Anyone out here live in Chestermere or have driven Highway 1 between Calgary/Chestermere?
Puckers have a game out there tonight and am wondering if it will be worth it.

Copperfield was a disaster this morning. I had to literally drive on the sidewalk to get out. Hawkwood isn't much better, but at least most of the major roadways are clear.

Thanks to the winter tire thread for finally convincing me to get some all weather tires. I love my new Goodyear Assurance Triple treads.

We must live nearby as I had to do the same. Of course I also had to drive on the wrong side of the road and on the sidewalk just to get out. And this is after I shovelled the 3 ft snow drift blocking my garage. If I get home and find the wind has undone all my work I think I'll lose it.

I need 1000 volunteer's to shovel my whole road Two feet in most places and zero chance to have the city plow it
The whole road is blocked because a couple Granny's thought their Honda Civics and Neon's magically turned into 4x4's overnight.
I hope the owner of the house who's lawn I drove over to get around them doesn't sue me!

McIvor Blvd is still a disaster. The New Brighton bypass is required to get anywhere in east Copperfield, and now the entrance to my neighbour hood is completely fubared. There's no other way out and even though a plow is onsite, it can't really do much because of all the cars blocking the way. Epic Fail, if not for the residents of the neighbourhood coming out in droves to help people out. I managed to make it home, but today alone I've been stuck eight times, which is more than every other time in my life combined. Too bad, since the major roads are in pretty good shape now.

I haven't taken my car out yet in this but I think tonight when everyone's in bed I'm going to go for a spin.
Nothing like cruising around in the snow when there is no one else out.

I get this funny idea you're being sarcastic. Care to explain why?

I am not sure what he meant by it, but I was sent home at 2 and given a full days pay. Not saying you should have done the same, because I pretty much expected to have to make up the hours later on until I was told otherwise.

Not that I agree that it's a bad thing, but I think he's reffering to the fact that lots of employees would get paid for the rest of the day if they were sent home for that reason. But it really depends on the company and the line of work.
For example, if it's any kind of construction/labour then it's more common for employees to only be paid for what they actually work, as it's more common for employees to work more some days and less others depending on a number of factors.

So let me get this straight. I provide them with the opportunity to not have to deal with the gong show of rush hour traffic, and because of that favour I am expected to explain to my boss why there is three thousand dollars billed to General Admin? I'm sorry, I don't understand that logic.

I find it funny, cause I read your post, and see your avitar, and hear V's distinct voice.
Did you send people home, knowing they'd have to make up the hours, and give them the choice to stay, or did you just walk in and say "everyone out", and they'll find out on Monday they have to make up 3 hours.
The long and short of it is, doesn't matter. All jobs are different. I took off early, but I sometimes get to work early. My boss doesn't sit by the clock, waiting for me to get to work.

The conversation went like this:
Hey, it's lousy out there, and I'm not planning on staying past 2. If you think you can make up the time next week, feel free to take off at the same time.
They seemed happy with the opportunity, not ripped off. Then again, maybe I'm reading them wrong.
To the last bit of your post, it's really all academic. I don't monitor their hours either. They could come in at 6 and I wouldn't know. There's an element of trust. Unfortunately, there's also an element of a collective bargaining agreement that can't be ignored. This is why they are expected to make up the time.
