i'm a little jealous of PS3 owners who will buy ME3 (assuming it's launched at the same time as the XBOX version) since the entire game will fit on one blu-ray, but the XBOX version of ME3 is likely going to be at least 3 DVDs. having to swap between 2 discs isn't that bad, but when there's so much content in a game that it spans 3 discs that's gonna be a lot of swapping back and fourth

Some side quests in Mass Effect 1 had repercussions in Mass Effect 2, even if relatively minor. Others had no impact whatsoever. Maybe they'll have an impact in Mass Effect 3, maybe they won't.
Without bundling Mass Effect 1 into the package as a seperate game, I imagine it would instead put you through a brief multiple choice exam, sort of like that G.O.A.T. in Fallout 3.
Example:
While chasing a distress signal on a garden world in the Traverse, you encountered a scientist being held at gunpoint by a Marine. The Marine claims to be a survivor of the Akuze incident and claims the scientist is working for Cerberus. The scientist on the other hand denies all allegations and insists the Marine is delusional and unstable. It should be noted that according to Alliance personnel records, the Marine holding the scientist at gunpoint is officially listed as K.I.A. while on Akuze. Do you:
A) Allow the Marine to take his revenge?
B) Order the Marine to stand down and bring the Scientist in for interrogation and possible trial?
C) Take the scientist out yourself? As a Council Spectre, you pretty much have immunity.
D) Order the Marine to stand down, get the scientist to safey, and get the Marine some psychiatric help?
There'd be probably anywhere from 20 to 50 different questions like this, all of them slightly altering the nuances of the playthrough for Mass Effect 2 and shaping the player's Shepard to their liking, without having to play 40 hours worth of game to get it.

I've played through both ME 1 and ME 2 on my roommates 360. So I'm curious to see what the prologue entails in the PS3 version which I'll be getting if only to tide me over till ME3

so the PS3 version of ME2 is finally out, and apparently it's the best one
i've put far too much time into my Xbox 360 characters to get this as well, but for someone who only has a PS3 it should be a must buy. it also racked up the most awards at IGN's best of 2010, including Game of the Year

I want to get this game, but I don't think I have the time. I've become a super casual gamer and only get about 4 hours/week to play (max), so to get a game that could take more than 30 hours seems a little daunting. Might pick up LittleBigPlanet 2 instead.

Defiantly picking this up. I played them both on my Roommate's 360 and they're awesome. I'm super stoked to be able to play Mass Effect3 on my PS3 when it comes out.
Now do I duplicate my 360 Shepard or do I create a whole new one?

The game costs $59.99 for the PS3 version and $19.99 (new) for the 360 version. Ouch.

That's the way it works. One been out a year. The other is brand new.

One comes out with all the DLC, it's running on the engine the third game will be on, and contains a comic to fill you in from the first one.

But worth $40? You can get the DLC for like $15.
Not that I care, I got the 360 version with all the DLC and have beaten it 3 times.

the PS3 version is essentially the GOTY edition, which most companies release which includes all the DLC and the game is standard price

Do I'm doing the install/downloading the DLC right now. Okay I lied. I did the install and started playing. I guess the comic is DLC. Just it just fill in the backstory I've already played on my friends console? Or will it actually impact my play-through on my PS3?

Looks like ME2 is available for download for $59.99 in the PSN store but it doesn't look like it comes with the DLC and you have to buy them separately. I don't get why they do this if you can get it at retail for the same price with the DLC included.

I'm pretty sure that the PSN download comes with DLC.
It apparently is on the download screen after you purchase it ( http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/60523...ect-2/57850910)

So I was right. If you want to 'use' the comic and choose the major plot points from Mass Effect 1 don't start your game until after the DLC is installed.

Final piece of DLC for ME2, Arrival is available for 560 points. It will bridge ME2 and ME3.

I hate to say it, but it was sort of meh, and doesn't really bridge anything since you can do the mission any time after Horizon.

So I've finished Mass Effect 2 and I am going back to finish it on Insanity. I kept my character (level 20ish solider) and I am getting slaughtered a lot and my team usually doesn't finish a battle alive. Should I keep pushing or should I start a brand new character? I can't import a character because I never played the first one. Any help would be appreciated.

insanity is actually harder on a second playthrough rather than a new character, as the enemies scale to your level from the start but you don't keep any of your upgrades
