Arlo is my name, and Iginla is my fave player. My high school social studies teacher nicknamed me that back in grade 10 and it just stuck.

Years back I felt a need for an IRC nick. It took me a while to come up with one, because I wanted something that was easy to remember, felt personal somehow yet wouldn't be used IRL, as using IRC nicks as IRL nicks was really common those days with the people I hung with.

I came up with Itse. It's quite simply "Self" in Finnish.

I like it because
- It's sort of clever
- It's easy for stupid puns (in Finnish)
- It feels personal because I've always been my biggest problem, and I spend way too much time in my inner headspace
- It's a reference to Marvel Comics, which I used to like a lot. (The character Warmachine spoke in this somewhat odd way, saying things like "Self is confused." He was an alien that felt very confused with the ways of humans, something I can relate to.)

I never thought I'd end up spending so much time here that anyone would actually notice me, so I didn't bother translating it, thinking it wouldn't matter.

I've sometimes considered asking the mods if I could just translate it, but haven't gotten around to it.

My handle is sort of an obvious thing. However, it came from witnessing the fever pitch of those celebrating the Red Mile during the Flames 04 playoff run. I think it was a totally "off the wall" happening or event which will often be copied but never duplicated.

Circa 2001 I was SutterHater when Brian Sutter was head coach. After he left, I tried a more positive handle and picked TTC thinking the Flames had made the turn to being a competitive franchise and playoff bound again. I was a few years early.

I'm named after the TV show everyone loves and misses... Actually I'm not. I was thinking I'm like a barfly, but for the flames...flamesfly sounds stupid though, so FireFly is it. But most people assume I'm named after the tv show, so lets go with that.

I love that show! Actually I never watched it. But I just wanted an excuse to post so I could say at least you didn't name yourself ManFly or LemonGinFly or IHaveFacialHairFly.
