You've hit on my #1 complaint about playing online. Sometimes goals are just goals. You make a really nice play to draw defenders towards you and then make a perfect feed to a guy in the slot and he roofs it. Then you get somebody complaining that you're exploiting a glitch, when all you're really doing is exploiting a moron.
Glitch goals will always be in there ... EA says they fix them every year and I'm not sure why this year will be any different. Not their fault really, does a sports game exist without some form of exploit?

^ those goals are the easiest, and they aren't glitch goals because in real hockey that would be a goal most of the time as well.
I remember in like NHL 2001 you could flip the puck from your own blue line and the other goalie would come out to save it and it would always bounce off his back and in.

The worst in 09 is the one deke backhand goals.
My friends scores on the same move every single time. Drives me bananas.

That's not a glitch. It's a skill. Not everyone can do that move because you actually have to learn how to deke to be able to do it. Are you complaining because you are playing your friend? If you can't beat a guy that scores the same way every time, it's not because he's cheap.

Can't agree more^. My friend and I would have epic battles. anytime we figured out a cheap goal it was up to the defender to take the chance away. It's kind of like people who complain about players online that just hit everything that moves. Pretty simple solution ... pass it around 2 or 3 times and you'll get automatic breakaways.

Glitch goals happen in real life too. Just ask Tommy Salo.

There are some glitch goals that need to be removed though. The stick drag, slide across the blueline and wrist it top corner is one that needs to go.

Oooh the classic curve shot... it's funny how A LOT of people try this.. then I just deny them by putting my defensemen's ass in front of them... and they keep trying it over and over... Another thing I notice is usually the top ranked players are pro at preventing glitch goals, learning from them pays off when you're facing a scrub who's whole game plan is around glitch goals.

Exactly. On the two on one as the dman, I just drift towards the far post. The sweet flick to the top corner cheeser goes off my chest, and the one time pass usually goes off the shinguards.
Defense, da da da, Defense!

It's easy to defend against, but it's a goal that shouldn't happen. It still needs to be taken out though. You can play good enough defense to block most cheese goals, but someone shouldn't be rewarded for being able to exploit a game.

My problem has always been not being able to get my D men to do what I want. They either just sit back and never attack, or if I put them on aggressive, they just make dumb pinches and get caught every time. There is no concrete way to tell your d man, "hey, this guy has just scored 3 wrap-around goals in a row, so protect the sides of the net." They just sit there like idiots. Or, get stuck behind the net.

Changing to a collapse defensive strategy might help with that. Usually in the D zone I take control of the D-man closest to the puck and park him outside the net and allow shots from the perimeter. It's a pain in the ass to be sure as it shouldn't be nearly as easy as it is to score on the wraparound.

This pisses me off too... it's either the glitch short side or the wrap around or the 'fair' one timers... you gotta defend in all of those situations against glitchers... which is frustrating.

Would love to see more fantasy teams like the all time montreal canadiens last year. Something like the Charlestown Chiefs or something would be awesome.
