Isn't it a rule in baseball to never trade pitching for hitting. For a team like Toronto who has to go up against lineups like the Yankees and Red Sox nearly 40 times a season. Any deal to get better pitching is a good one for them.

This is a rebuilding year for the Jays, I would think the Jays will stay put with current team and wait for next season when Marcum and McGowan will be back. Jays will spend money this upcoming off season IMO. As Rios, he will come around....

Romero with another brilliant performance; 7 full innings of shutout baseball.

But like his last start, very little run support. Only 1-0 Jays; we'll see if the pen can hold it up.

Wow! Never though it was possible for the Jays to win 1-0.

That's 4 series wins in a row!

Romero with a fantastic performance and has a great year so far. Bullpen was good too today with Downs and Ryan shutting it down and only giving up 1 hit between them (a single). 10-4 for the Jays now. I don't think they will get in the playoffs or anything, but a better record then I anticipated at this point.

They can! All teams called Yankees, Rays and Red Sox are playing terrible!
Even though the season is incredibly long, getting a 10 game lead at any stage is almost insurmountable.

The lowly Rangers are in town next, need to sweep them.

From what I have heard it is widely thought that there was no way the Giants were ever going to make the Lincecum deal and that they wanted to get far along in the talks and hope to swap Lincecum with Cain late in the proceedings.

Yeah, from what I heard Lincicum was a "no" right from the start. Of course that was who JP was asking for. The Giants threw Cain's name in there and it almost happened.

Is Alex Rios the most uncoachable player in the majors or just the dumbest?

I want to know what that As 3B coach was doing waiving the runner in? Perhaps he thought this was their bast chance to score, but it was early in the game.

If somehow we can get everybody back healthy, the jays pitching staff is pretty good---opening day 2010

-Doc (hopefully)
-Marcum
-Mcgowen
-Purcey
-Litsch/Romero

C-Arcenbia/Barajas
1b-should get an upgrade on overbay--(perhaps David Cooper 1st rder will be ready)
2b-Hill
SS-Scutaro
3b-will need an upgrade on rolen
OF-Lind,Wells,(opening for a traded rios)
DH- Snider

Thus,
We could easily use Rios to trade for a quality arm to throw in the rotation if purcey or romero can't pan out. Or we could do a straight up swap for another OF.

What the devil?

I had my PVR set to record the "MLB baseball" game at 5 on sportsnet because I was out for the evening but still wanted to watch the Doc.

I come home to watch it and its Oakland and NYY or some garbage, what gives?

Though, I suppose I didn't miss much.

yeah, for some reason the only Sportsnet region that wasn't showing the Jays game was West. Apparently Oakland and New York is more important to the prairie region?

Jays offense continues to impress. Halladay's stuff was dominant but it seemed the Rangers had a very good, patient approach at the plate. He had 9 K's iirc.

Re: the Jays offense, they battled back after Halladay gave up the 2 run HR to Kinsler to make it 5-3. Had a chance with the bases loaded and 1 out in the bottom of 8th, but Barajas unluckily lined out to Young at 3rd on a play that would have scored 2, and Snider flew out to end the inning.

They brought the tying run to 3rd with 2 out in the 9th on a tough closer in Francisco, but Wells couldn't come through in the clutch.

And Aaron Hill is playing like an elite 2nd baseman right now.

Thanks for the recap, really I think I'd be a Rangers fan if I had no MLB allegiance, sluggers through and through.

Is it just me or does Rios look completely bored or disinterested out there?

He's super frustrating to watch this year.
