I'm not much for actually interuppting famous people to talk to them, but if by met you mean stood right next to, or walked past:

P.O.D.

Jean Cretien came into my high school classroom just before he becasme Prime Minister - I couldn't see him due to all the media around him.
Ralph Klien came to my grade 2 class.

One thing I've done is I've walked out of movie (due to terribleness) with the members of a Juno Award winning (and several more times nominated - including 2009) band. But the general population doesn't care about (and never hears about) the Christian music category.

My wife's family is family friends with Barry Brust - who played his first NHL game against the Flames a couple of seasons ago for LA, and hasn't played many NHL games since.

I had Steve Yzerman as a hockey instructor at summer hockey camp in the arena that would later bear his name.

I guess it means what you mean by "met." I've seen lots of celebs during the 2004 playoffs and some in the Gaslamp Districut in San Diego, but never really talked to them. And Georges Laraque at West Edmonton Mall doing a shoe commercial lol. When I worked at the Saddledome, met a couple players but never really said anything to them other then a hi.

I guess the only real celeb I've actually talked to was Bret Hart, I used to be good friends with his son and he gave me a ride home from school a couple times. I did also get to talk to Brain Sutter for over an hour when he was stuck in traffic when I worked at the Stampede, just after he got fired with the Flames.

I do sort of have a goal of wanting to sit down and have lunch one-on-one with Bill Gates some time in the next 5 years. I have a few ideas on how to do that, but haven't followed through yet.

Oh, and does LA Flames Fan count?

Just remembered that I hung out with another one of my heros.

Shannon Larkin of Wrathchild America/Souls at Zero/Ugly Kid Joe/Snot/Amen. The guy also played drums for Black Sabbath for one show which is so prestigious that I won't even mention what horrible and atrocious band he is now playing for as it tarnishes his entire career.

Anyways, played 4 shows opening for Amen years ago. Larkin was banging a pretty, young thing from Calgary who was working at Showgirls last I heard from her. Very cool guy, we started talking about some of the big shows he's played and when he found out I'm a bootleg collector he offered to send me a show from his personal collection when he got home to California. Sure enough it showed up int he mail a few weeks later. Incredibly nice guy and insanely talented. Very disappointed that he drums for that terrible band, but at least he's getting paid.

My first big trip as a child, to Disneyland.
Mr. T as my family and I are stepping off the plan in LA. It was fantstic. We then seen the Olson twins at Seaworld two days later filming one of their direct to video movies, I think that's what they were doing. At 11 or 12 it was all pretty cool.

I saw Norm Abram on Broadway in NYC. Does that count? And yes, he was wearing a flannel shirt in the middle of downtown NY.

Awesome! Norm Abram is a textbook nerd...with mad skills.

I have met Penn & Teller, and literally "rubbed elbows" with Eric Idle (I stood next to him and I rubbed his elbow with mine).

I met Leonard Cohen. Well sort of. He was in town to play several concerts last fall. I was out for a walk at lunch and went to the Superstore to pick up a few things. He must have been out for a stroll as well so as I was about to go into the Superstore he was coming out the doors. He looked very classy in his long black coat, grey scarf and hat.

Try me: what was the band...or were you referring to P O D?

I thought P O D was from San Diego, so I'd be surprised if they won a Juno.

I go to the same church as the bassist (David Schlegel) from Traced Image (Juno nominated). Also plays fantastic keyboards, drums, guitars...a very musical family he comes from.

And I forgot one: Paul Brandt (real name is Belabriziski (sp?)) went to my former church and I was part of his regular supporters throughout his big break at the Youth Talent Showdown at the Calgary Stampede.

Apparently I met most of the famous people at Cowboys...oh the memories. I'm sure there are other people I've met, just can't think of any right now.
got to ride with them a couple of years ago. I was disappointed they never stuck around to chat with us afterward.

Some Famous-Musician Anecdotes:

1. Haha, I remember when I was in about grade 10 a friend of mine dragged me to the downtown HMV location where The Barenaked Ladies put on a free show. After the show the band exited the store and we were along the railing they passed by, where everyone could give the band five. Even though I thought they were ######bags I gave them five. They all had really sweaty palms.

2. I went to see Frank Black (former frontman of The Pixies/solo artist extraordnaire - he releases new material on an annual basis) play at Mac Hall. Before the show while we were waiting and sharing a bottle of gin (curses to whoever thought gin would be a good sipping liquor to smuggle in), Frank came wandering through the crowd and picked me out of everyone to randomly stop in front of, smile, and give me a friendly pat on the back. It was pretty rad.

3. Before a Radiohead show at Thunderbird Stadium in Vancouver in 2003, we got bored waiting in line to get in so we went exploring and found an area behind the stadium where the crew had done a poor job of connecting barricade fences. We snuck in through the gap and made our way into the venue, where the band was doing soundcheck. It was pretty awesome to be 2 lone people sitting in the middle of a giant empty football field watching Radiohead warm up. No one seemed to notice or care that we were there, so after the band finished and left the stage we made our way back that way and got past whatever light security they had in place (obviously, you don't really need security if no one is (supposed to be) around to keep the band secure from), and got up real close to the band, who were still in the process of making their way back to their trailer. We stood there agape - much of our amazement due simply to the fact that we'd gotten that far uncontested - and I greatly enjoyed that the band all gave me this "who the f--- is this stupid-looking fanboy??" look. Finally, someone important noticed we didn't have VIP lanyards on and promptly and rather guffly escorted us out... I had to talk us out of having our tickets for the night revoked. Still have pictures of all this somewhere.

POD is from San Diego, they haven't won a Juno.

Downhere is the name of the Juno winning band that I have walked out of a movie with.

The closest I have ever been to any kind of celebrity is walking past Much Music in Toronto and Maroon 5 was outside talking to the crowd.

I met Doug Gilmour at Futureshop.

That's about it. Quite sad. I suspect I was on the same plane that took Prince Harry from the UK to Calgary though.

Brody Jenner, with a posse of large black body guards. he got paid to go to a bar, that bar lost power, he then went to the next bar that i was in.

Everyone was highfiving him and kissing ass. I grabbed his hand, pulled up tight to his face and called him a fagget.

no repercussions or even a word for it, just a blank stare back at me, then moved on to keep talkin to people.

i dont have a problem with him... just... when in rome.

ohh and i've met much more important famous people, all of them

I met Perl Bailey in the car park of a KMart in Troy NY when I was 6. Didn't know who she was, but she gave me a signed photo which I showed my mom and grandma and they were suitably impressed.

The day I got married in Galway, Ireland I was in full Scottish wear -- kilt and all. We were in a pretty fancy hotel for the reception. Anyway, I'm in the bathroom standing at the urinals with my kilt hitched up. Now, urinal etiquette says, move as far away as possible to any exiting 'users', right? Well there's like 10 urinals there and I'm far to the left. Some guy walks in and pees RIGHT NEXT DOOR! I was like "what the heck!". Then he starts talking to me (another no no, right?). I finish up and get the heck out. Right after, I'm talking to my (Irish) wife and friends telling them what just happened when the guy walks out. I say, "That's him!" and she's like "No way, that's the prime minister!!!" Accosted by Bertie Ahern. Ha ha.

Shook Joe Satriani's hand at a meet and greet before a gig in Glasgow back in the early nineties. That was sweet!!!
