I'm going to an Asian restaurant for lunch tomorrow. I also live in Edmonton (gasp).
I'll post if I make it.

I'm not sure I've ever been to a Subway or Mr. Sub that isn't owned by asians (middle eastern usually).
I've made it through there since New Years safely, so you can add them to the list of safe.

I think this is a great idea. Maybe instead of Pete's Pub, one Sunday could be at Bolsa instead?
(I haven't been to Pete's Pub yet. I keep meaning too but never seem to make it... )

My wife drove by it yesterday and she said it looked open. Me, my wife and kids are regulars there and will be going there on the weekend to show our support, if it is indeed open.

^ Nine-page thread and you didn't pick-up on the open-late stereotype?

I was thinking of doing this next time I'm in the south (I live in the NW... I hear there's asians here ). Hopefully lots of people will do the same - the restaurant owners are victims in this whole thing too.

I haven't been to a live NHL game since that girl got killed from the puck in Columbus.
I also use tennis balls instead of pucks for pond hockey games.
Fear pucks!!!

If people are going to boycott restaurants based on isolated shooting events, could you please boycott the Ship an Anchor as well. That place is way to crowded these days and if you all remember there was a shooting across the street at Sal's.

There's always the option of ordering take out
Seriously though, there is no way I'm giving up Vietnamese food because of some gang fight. Besides, at the rate they are going, soon there won't be many gang members left anyway.

As for the comment about the Thai Boat and Indian restaurants, that's a product of drinking to much and posting. I've actually never been for Indian food before.
We usually get our food to go from the Thai boat, anyway....why?.....because we live in the N.E. !!!! yah I know...quite a large population of Calgary's Indian population lives in the N.E.
So you see, you've all labeled me something I am not. I live in an area where I would consider myself a "minority." I have more Indian and Asian neighbors than white, so you can all stop that crap.
Cheers!

If you weren't racist you wouldn't have to defend yourself n'est-ce pas?
Your decision to no longer go to Asian restaurants isn't considered racist.
I hardly go to them myself and don't really like the food. We're all having a little fun at your expense more for being scared than being racist. Going by your logic you'd have to avoid bank robbers, convenient store robbers, pawn-shop/jewelry store robbers, nightclubs, c-train platforms and intersections.

I don't think anyone actually called you racist but you're definitely being irrational.
