A lot of people who live near the border will use an antenna to pick up the CBC feed of the Olympics because they tend to show more things live, rather than "live" like NBC does. Also, CBC shows events that aren't just dominated by the US (because nothing seems to be dominated by Canada).

Ha! No doubt, my wife was asking me why I was continuing to watch when it was frustrating me so much and all I could tell her is that I usually enjoy the Olympics. This has been difficult to enjoy.

Things will improve. Keep your spirits up. I'm sure we will have some awe-inspiring performances by Canadian athletes by the end... just not yet unfortunately.

Yeah, I keep saying that to myself, that this can't continue forever but it's getting harder and harder for me to believe, if you know what I mean. Those were two disappointing performances, in fact, not disappointing, disastrous. I mean, this evening was supposed to be the one that started setting things right, instead they just continued to frustrate. Things will have to get better though, I don't see how they could get much worse.

Upon further review I could careless what the medal count is as long as they show more Brazilian Girls ( Playing for Georgia) in Bikinis in the Beach Volleyball. What an awesome spectator sport.

Wow, finally someone performs to expectations. Whatever Brown did today he should do the same tomorrow.

He was awesome. I hope whatever he has, that the rest of our athletes catch it.

Well the 4x200 wasn't that disappointing, they were in lane 2 and finished 5th by a teeny bit. Hayden got them back in the race but the others weren't good enough.
Now tomorrow Brown in lane 5. I will be disappointed if he doesn't medal.

It's disappointing thus far but really who am I to complain? These athletes have worked their asses off while I have barely given a second thought to these Olympics before August 8th. What right do I have to tell them they suck? I am getting so fed up reading the comments below the articles on the CBC website.
What's more annoying is to watch all the Aussie fans get disappointed by their athletes winning a bronze medal. They really take it for granted. I would be ecstatic at this point in time with a bronze.

Because if we don't care about their suckage what's the point. They are on the world stage - if you win on the world stage you deserve to be praised, if you disappoint you deserve to be criticized.
Such is sports. Perhaps some of these people should have chosen a different career path.

But do we support/criticize our athletes between olympics?
I know that Australia is a sports mad country and they will follow their swimmers all year round and will be in-tune with what is going on. They realize that the swimming team is in a bit of a decline and are pissed off that they're getting bronze and not gold.
Canadian swimmers who are doing their best times and more importantly results should be praised. For example Wilkinson who finished 25th in Athens and now 7th in Beijing is a great result.
But a World Champion like Hayden not making the final (after sitting out another race) is inexcusable. Maybe he was too busy taking pictures.
Results have to be taken into context. Most people who comment on the CBC site that icarus is reading probably haven't ever seen a swimming meet and just turn on CBC every Olympics expecting gold.

Oh I agree, I don't have a problem with someone who exceeds expectations by getting a top 10 finish when they ranked 25 in the world.
Though then it comes down to why send so many people. Maybe a smaller team that gets more cash is the solution. Why send a pile of people that have no chance of getting a medal?
The athletes though I'm specifically referring to are the ones that SHOULD have done better but have thus far pee'd the bed. Those ones deserve all criticism they get.
