What do people around here think about preseason games in any league? Are they only good for the regs to get in shape and get a quick view of the incoming prospects? The jays' record is nothing to be proud of, I am just going to take it as is if no setbacks occur.

imo they mean absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things....on any given day in any league a game between 2 pre season teams can mean a veteran lineup vs a rookie lineup or vice versa....it only matters when the season actually starts. I look more at individual player performance at this time of the year then i would team stats/success.

Anyone remember Mike Sirotka?
Here are a couple of articles about the injury taken from the thread on Bluejayway.ca

Jays have announced that they will be adding Robbie Alomar to the Level of Excellence this season.
Can't argue with the choice. He is arguably the most talented Jay every to play for them. Also hit one of the biggest homers in the club's history against the As.
It's just too bad that about the spitting incident, because it really did tarnish his career.

Further to that: Here is the article.
He says he wants to go into the hall as a Jay (if he is selected). Damned good chance of it IMHO, one of the finest 2B ever to play the game - no one else has more Gold Gloves than he does at 2B (he has 10), and he was also a superb offensive player, posting a .300/.371/.443 line during his career. Love that OBP.
Didn't do one thing *really* well offensively, but chipped in everywhere.

yes, he was my favourite Jay back in the day. At least he was man enough to approach the ump and apologize afterward. They are friends to this day I believe.
The homer against Eckersley was the best. The cockiest pitcher of all time, what a fitting end to launch one off that guy.

That move stinks IMO.
Reed is superior in every way to Stewart, with the exception of hitting RHP. But that is the one thing his job will not entail with a strict platoon scenario that the Jays are going to go with in LF. Reed would have been a better "fit" for this team.

geez, it really didn't look like Stewarts stats were all that terrific during the pre-season. Let's hope the staff sees something we don't.

Garbage move. Just garbage..
Reed is exactly the type of player the Jays need. Good defense, speed, can situational hit. And plays hard every single inning.
I expect a few teams to jump at him, probably an NL team.

On Connected they just said the Blue Jays are denying the report, and they haven't decided what to do. Weird. The TSN report seems pretty cut and dried.
Edit: and now the Sportsnet website is reporting it. It must have been the overnight show they loop that I was watching.
