^^^ The only contenders that have a Euro spot open are:
Calgary, Kelowna, Regina, Tri-City.
That said, I've read on boards that a deal to either Calgary or Regina seems imminent, time will tell whether it actually happens or not.

^^ Lots of moves today I see, including Kulhanek to Red Deer.
Also, Moose Jaw gets Ty Wishart, Spokane gets Justin McCrae (from Saskatoon), and rumour has it (whlfans) that Figren will be off to Regina tomorrow.
EDIT: WK I'm lookin' at coming to your barn Feb. 8 (vs. Kootenay).. I've heard (and seen on the tube) nothing but good things, and I haven't seen a Chilliwack-Cranbrook matchup since the old Chiefs used to beat on the Colts in the (I think?) Doyle Cup.

The Doyle Cup is the Alberta-BC championship. It wouldn't have been that.
Intersting moves. Spokane really didn't need to get any stronger, thanks...

Kind of interesting in looking at the standings (now that the WHL has switched the front page to a conference format) that the playoff teams have already been decided.
Seattle and Kamloops, 7th and 8th in the West at 40 points are already 13 up on 9th place PG, while Swift Current, 8th in the East, is 11 up on Edmonton. And it wouldn't have mattered if they still used the divisional playoff format either.
Calgary looks to be pulling away from the pack in the East, but that battle for 2nd through 6th looks intersting. Five teams spread out by four points. Spokane, Tri-Cities and Vancouver battling for tops in the West... I like Spokane for that one.

BCJHL championship is the Fred Page Cup
As stated the Doyle Cup is the AJHL Champ VS BCJHL Champ

I am surprised that it was Moose Jaw that ended up adding Wishart. they really don't look like much of a threat to win the WHL and already added a big defenseman in ellerby earlier in the year.
Wishart would have been nice in Lethbridge but I think the price was too high and with him most likely gone after this year I think it was smart to pass on him. I hope they can add something but I think the real push will be for next season for the Canes.

Any input you can give me on this player, 604? Too many new faces in Red Deer. Hard to digest....

I haven't seen as much of the 'Wack as West Karma, but I was impressed by Kulhanek the few times I saw him. 18 year-old, average size, only has 9 or 10 goals on the year, but busts his tail every shift.
Resolute: my mistake, it was the Mowat Cup (old RMJHL vs. BCJHL).

Another defenceman dealt..
PA trades Jeff May to Lethbridge for two prospects and a 2nd round pick.
Also, Blades and Rebels are on Sportsnet tonight, 7:00 MT.

In case anyone missed anything from yesterday, here's a brief recap..
Vancouver gets R.J. LaRochelle from Swift Current
Kootenay gets Zach Sim from Prince Albert
Swift Current gets Bretton Stamler from Edmonton
Regina gets Ryan DePape from Prince Albert for Jared Jagow
Also, Kulhanek looked like he had lots of jump in his Rebels debut last night, didn't help much though.. Rebels and Warriors on Shaw tomorrow night.
EDIT: one more from yesterday, Kelowna picked up Brent Ottmann (19 playing in SJHL) from Prince Albert for a pick.

I have not heard any trades from today as of yet. The above trades were done yesterday.... I would think there will be a few today.

Figren supposedly squashed a deal to Regina so it looks like he will stay in Edmonton unless something changes. Some rumours that it may change if it were Calgary that made a deal for him.
A lot of the the trades will not be announced until later in the day if previous years are any indication.

That's the rumour, about Figren, that I've heard too. How good would Calgary look if they picked up Figren and a goalie like Irving? Scary good.
However, I don't care about the level of hockey, or sport for that matter, any trading between Calgary and Edmonton teams seems weird to me!

Okay one trade was announced...sounds like a minor one.
Kootenay ICE Hockey Club, announced today the Club has acquired 19-year-old Defenseman Eric Frere from the Calgary Hitmen in exchange for a fifth round selection in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.

^^^ nice depth pickup for the Ice IMO, along with getting Sim from PA yesterday it'll take a load off some of the younger players on the blueline.
I'm guessing that's about it for Kootenay dealing, especially since they will be getting Maxwell back up front soon.
