Something that Packer defense could definitely use.
I'm holding out hope that the Broncos sign him for less money, but it didn't sound like he felt that was an option.

Wasn't there health problems? I havn't read anything. But on the NFL Network on Sirius they indicated that he wasn't healthy enough to play anymore.

Yeah, he had a neck injury late last season, but played afterwards.
I don't think his career is over or anything.

He did fail his physical when they tried trading him to the Giants.

Yep, because of the neck too. They aren't uniform physicals though. He could pass elsewhere. Like I said, he played in two games after the injury.

Agreed. I sat beside his wife at a Monday night game in Arrowhead in 1997 vs the Steelers. This little tiny white girl. Every offensive play, she was "Go Will! Go Will!". On fourth down from the the Chiefs 30 Marty sent in the punting team. She said "go for it Marty!" I looked at her like she was from Mars. She said "don't you have confidence in the offense?". Interesting day in the stands.

It had been rumored about that Sheilds would retire. At least this way the team can look to replace him in the draft or some other way, although you'll never replace a guy like Shields. It also hints that Weigman too is hinting at retirement. I think it was sometime two seasons ago where the Chiefs O-Line set a record for most consecutive starts as a unit, and now it looks like only Waters will remain. Man that Chiefs offence will look quite different next year. Hopefully that defence feels like throwing some shutouts.

Could definitely see KC taking Levi Brown in the 1st round of the draft.

There is talk that Waters might play center if Weigman retires.

Casey Weigman's agent said in the KC Star that Casey is not going to retire and that he plans to play 3 or 4 more years. Good to hear.

Saints sign Colts cb Jason David to an offer sheet, deal is reportedly 4yrs and very heavy on the front end to ensure the Colts inability to match. The Colts would receive a 4th rounder in compensation; great move by the Saints imo, saves them reaching for an average cb in the first round, and they still have two fourths left.

If he's still around at 23 I wouldn't have a problem with it. The Chiefs needs on offence are numerous so I can definitely see them making a lot of offensive type draft picks this year.

Yeah, I just think the best thing for a young QB (Croyle) is a good offensive line. I think you guys would be happy with him or Blaylock. I know WR is an issue but I think that pool is deep enough to be addressed in the second round.

this is great news, and we'll know the answer by the draft, if we get him it takes us out of being pigeonholed for a CB on Saturday in the draft.

Yeah the team could use a good Receiver but Croyle isn't exactly Brett Farve when it comes to durability. Also as we saw with the Raiders last year, if your offensive line is no good you never get a chance to get the ball in the hands of your wide receivers. So long as a team has a good line can run the ball and has Tony Gonzalez to throw to they can still move the ball through the air without a marquee receiver. If they don't have a good line, throw it all out the window, they won't move the ball no matter who's catching it.

Agreed. Look at Donovan McNabb. Had garbage receivers up until TO arrived but was able to succeed because of a fantastic O-line.

There isn't an offense in the world that is going to be effective without a great offensive line.
The Chiefs did sign Damion McIntosh from the Dolphins to play Left Tackle. Weigman and Waters will stay in their positions. John Welbourn will replace Will Shields at Right Guard (his natural position). Chris Terry will play Right Tackle, or at least he is the hopefull candidate.
Weird story in the KC Star today. Indicated that the Chiefs may be thinking of trading Larry Johnson. I'm sure it is purly speculation. But it was still interesting.

Shocking news! But if it happens, I'm sure it's due to his attitude. He's gotten better with it, but you can tell he has a serious attitude problem, he mopes alot. I was embarassed for Herm Edwards early last season when Johnson was pouting on the bench about having a poor game, and Edwards kept walking up to him, consoling him and hugging him. He was acting like a parent to their six year old who had just broke his toy.

I listen to KC sports radio each afternoon on the way home from work and I can tell you without a doubt that the locals do not think Larry Johnson is as interested in his personal stats as he is in being part of Jay-Z's entourage. And the Chiefs goals rank lower than that on his priority list.
He's a cancer.

Well look at how some running backs of the past fared after seasons where they had like 385 plus carries. Jamal Anderson, Eddie George, and Terrel Davis were never the same after years where they carried the ball that often. As the season wore on Johnson started to look a fair bit slower as he was getting tackled a lot by the ankles on plays where he used to break away in the past. I think the Chiefs over used Johnson big time last year and may have potentially shortened his career by doing so. He also doesn't seem to have the right attitude to be a back for a championship team either. If they move him they move him, talented player who's undoubtably put up great numbers, but from this point going forward he's a guy who carries substantial risk.
BTW one week to the draft!!
