Azure,

The first thing you don't even realize is how meticulous some of those guys are with this artform. Please stress some because it's limited as to whom actually has talent and who does it for a quick dollar. All you seem to know is that they do it with a computer. Have you ever seen one of them plug a keyboard into that computer? Have you even seen guitars or a sax or a flute or other "instruments" run through an analog mixer and then into a computer? I have and I think it's pretty awesome as to what some of those guys can create. There's so many different things that can be done.

The problem is, you are labelling them all as one entire group. I see you accused redman of being stereotypical in another thread and you've done it yourself, page after page in this one. I know you're not going to open your ears up to it because you have an image of it and it doesn't appeal to you. But the label you are putting on it is very restrictive, just like your view of music as a whole.

I don't take from your words you've ever spent much, if any, time in a recording studio. I doubt you have much experience with any instruments, and if it is, it's only with the 2 or 3 you actually like. Have you actually set down and tried to layer a beat and make it match? I'd gather 100% that you never even tried because if you did, you might give it a little more respect than you do.

You have your opinion and I have mine. The only problem I have is you slander the entire genre when 90% of it you've never even heard. I guess that's the difference between some of us. Some are always looking for something new and different and trying to expand their horizons. Others prefer to live in a box. To each their own I guess.

Wow, looks like the policy on random personal attacks has finally changed. Funny though, every time I was on the recieving end I don't really recall much defense.

But it's in the past and finally someone is enforcing site policy. Too bad it took an Oilers run to the finals to get on it.

My appologies Azure.

You're probably right, but when you have people selling programs on the internet that help you make a "hip-hop" beat, there must be some truth in what I'm saying.

Also, many people here have classifed 90% of rap music as crap, because each song sounds like the next one. Problem is, that 90% is what we hear and would be considered the mainstream music, hence my problem with it.

I have no problem with people that plug instruments into a computer, and refine their music to make it sound even better, IMO, these days music sounds best that way. But when you soley use a computer to make your music, you're left with a beat that has been overdone and overused.

You can say that about 90% of all music. Especially mainstream rock. How many ways can you play four different chords or create the same whiny voice?

It all depends on the people making the beats. Not ever single one sounds the same and the ones that do suck.

I am just trying to point out it takes talent and musical skill to create good music on computers. If you are not good at it will suck and sound like the next man.

Which is why 90% of music today sucks. In every genre.

Actually, even if you're considered "good", you still run the risk.

See: RHCP ripping off Tom Petty and Green Day ripping off Oasis.

LOL...oh cmon now...90% of all music does NOT suck.
I think musical tastes change dramatically over the years, and the ages between 18-25 or 30 are the years where one tries to define the area he fits into.....whether that be Rock, Blues, Country, etc etc.
By the time you hit your 30s I think one becomes much more open minded to music. I can listen to just about anything...except hard core Rap and Old time Country. The rest is AOK with me.
I think actually that most adults once they have children find Sharon Lois and Bram to be the top of their hit chart...and even they dont do Rap.

Music is the like anything...If you don't like it why are you listening to it?

Rap since 2Pac and Biggie "died" is CRAP! But the older stuff is good
