May he RIP. Odd time to bring that up, though.

I will now change my vote to yes with the Weegar deal.

The Rebiggle is dead (I guess I should wait to see what comes back before announcing the change in heart)

This is how you rebuild.

Still Kadri and Coleman to dangle too.

lol are you just following me around CP to argue...20 bad takes from posters that the Flames weren't rebuilding.

I think one team in history has had more picks in over 4 drafts and its getting close the Flames might set a record for the most picks over a 4 drafts. (not including rounds that no longer exist)
"not rebuilding"

I edited it to not offend though

You only posted this because of your failure in the other thread. But it’s exciting to see you’re going to continue some more failure here. I’ll let you continue to try to claim I said the Flames didn’t rebuild. Just like after thousands of pages you still think I’m anti-crypto. Re: the reading comprehension part; lack thereof.

Nobody was going to out-suck the Sharks that year. 47 points!

Furthermore, that was the year Conroy traded away half a dozen veterans and the team finished 17 points out of the playoffs. They weren't trying to compete at all. That was the year the rebuild started, and the team got Parekh out of it.

Flames are trying to sneak into 8th places in the hopes that "anything can happen"

Clearly you thought they were in a rebuild AND would win a playoff round from your posting history

The rebuilding top 8 team ! A new NHL concept! Why didn’t every team think of that !

Or are we just going to pretend you didnt vote that in the preseason pool and act like you have been on Flames rebuilding since D1

Trust in Conroy. The pieces are slowly but surely coming in place.

They aren’t rebuilding. They are tanking.
Easiest and laziest play in the GM tool kit. At some point you dead end yourself and the team is probably out of options. I don’t think that’s a credit to anyone though. It bankruptcy.
So they’ve committed to be irrelevant for 5-10 years.
You get lucky on Celebrini or Carlsson you’re a hero.
More likely you get Lafrenière and Kakko and send another letter in 5 years.

That's a pretty rough assessment. There's already a few top players in the organization in Parekh and wolf, and a good supporting cast of prospects on the way. They've prioritized youth, building through the draft (which seems to be a good work in progress), and acquiring assets for aging veterans. What's not to like about this strategy?

I respect your opinion but am not sure what’s harsh.
They’ve thrown in the towel and are deliberately trying to get worse.
Surrender is not a strategy. Maybe it’s all they have left.

In the NHL it is a strategy. They finally understand what end of the standings they are competing with. Most optimistic I've been as a fan in years.

Exactly. The fact the Flames are in 31st right now is super exciting. They might actually add a superstar this year. They have a boat load of picks that they can hopefully use to continue to help build out their depth. If they can land 2 or 3 stars at the top of the draft over the next few seasons they should have a young exciting team on the upswing with actual potential to turn into a contender.
