Let’s see what happens over the next 5 months . Will be very telling either way. I don’t think it’s an issue - but it is a bit “weird” to have a unsigned GM in what seems like a clear rebuild path and a GM who has been executing a rebuild

I’m just not totally confident we extend Conroy. Steinburg mentioned it too the other day that Conroy is still without an extension and thought it was significant that he now is starting to talk about it. Then kinda rang some alarm bells for me watching that interview with Maloney. That’s why I wonder anyway. Hope that there’s nothing to that but it’s starting to get weird around here.

I'm not too concerned about his interview. A big part of his job is to sell the product and keep butts in seats. If you're a season ticket holder and spending thousands of dollars a year, it's a tough sell right now. I am sure the Flames front office is getting tonnes of feedback from season ticket holders right now and he was put out there to try and calm them down.

The fact of the matter is, and not to get all existential, but a lot of the people with the kind of disposable income to be a regular season ticket holders, are are likely in the age group that might not be around long enough to see the fruition of a long rebuild and the years that follow when the team is hopefully contending regularly.

I do wonder why Maloney is travelling with the team on this trip though.

He's done a very solid job so far, imo. And loves Calgary and the Flames. Not sure what else you want from a GM right now.

Steinberg is just trying to jump on the click story like Barnburner. This is a nothing story. Conroy is safe

Steinberg needs things to talk about every night. The contract will get done, probably at seasons end. This is usually when the Flames do the GM deal.

I'm 95% confident that Conroy is here to stay, and see this rebuild through.
