Has to be purely name recognition. I dont know how a team that needs defensive help, looks at a player that is a cumulative -83 over the past 5 seasons and says 'pick him up!'

Their scout sucks and they have no analytics department so they just pull out all the old and sticky Hockey News magazines and look for an article from when the guy was good in the past.

He wanted “best on best” and now he is complaining?

May be he is hinting that he wished he still has Marner on his line?

Someone said it earlier I believe, but McDavid playing in this tourney was the best thing towards getting him out of Dumpsterville.
He spent extended time in Montreal and then Boston. Great cities. Surrounded by Cup anf other Award winners and playing a game for the first time in his NHL career where he didn't have to carry the team on his back.
Then he had to go back to Edmonton. Back to carrying the entire dead weight team with his buddy Drai. Dinner at Cactus Club. Misery.

Poor McDavid, has to come back to playing on his own team with the grunts, just like every other player that played in the tournament. wah.

Not one other player is having 'back to reality' issues. What a snowflake.
In fairness though, no other player had to go back to Edmonton.

Arviddson & Ekholm, but that's why they bowed out early though because they knew they wanted those extra days off in Boston.

Mavi looks like he's put on a lot of miles. Miles driving Whitemud plus those traffic circles with stop signs.
Even at 28, a young man should still be fairly fresh faced.

It really is becoming a Frank Gallagher vibe. You're telling me this isn't the same person?

Seriously, if McDavid grew his hair out you wouldn't know the difference.
He's probably going bald due to stress though so he might even look worse.
