The show is a little smell your own farts for me.

Also drags. Is 10 episodes required? Lots of storylines go too mystery / not enough explained. Viewers are often left to jump to massive conclusions without things being explained.

You can have a mystery show but at some point you need to start explaining stuff or it gets a little boring.

I’d rather not have to sit through 9 hours of mystery to finally figure it out in one final episode.

Otherwise yes it is a pretty good show for the most part in terms of a cool unique idea and the acting is excellent.

There's other shows to spoon feed you more detail and explain things. This is not that show.

It's also a balance because if they explain too much after working so hard on the mystery, it's kind of a disappointment. Like, the numbers from MDR was always so fascinating to me, then they're saying it's about the psyche. While leading to other questions that are fascinating, I was disappointed. Not cause the idea sucks, but because the mystery is what makes this show so fun

I suppose that not connecting the dots gives them the freedom to critically revisit the season from afar and have the option of several different directions in season three.

I think never explaining things is the better choice. The mystery does not matter. The show centers around the philosophical question of what is life. That’s the interesting part for me. The entire idea of if you have the right to create two versions of yourself one to labour and one to live is what drives the show for me. As an individual before the procedure it would pass the categorical imperative as you don’t know which side of the dense “you” will end up on. You end up on both. But on the other hand once you are two separate lives do you have a moral duty to each other?

Is Dylan’s wife falling in love with her husband wrong? To me this is an ethics show with some mystery elements

It’s the same as people turning white lotus into a guess who gets killed show. It doesn’t matter. These shows are about relationships rather than plot. The mystery is designed to cover up the lack of plot.

I wonder if it's always related to the psyche? In the first season, the writers (who said this was canon) put out a publication called "The Lexington Letter" which implies that, in this particular case, the numbers may have been related to something other than the psyche (depending how you interpret it). It's a quick and interesting read for anyone who wants to dig deeper into the Lumon world.

I don’t need to know exactly what’s going on. I just enjoy visiting this absurd, surreal world. It’s all like a crazy dream.

Sometimes it is about the journey not the destination.

Yeah… it should still have a coherent story though…

Just finished season two. Liked it a lot, great directing and very stylish.

Does anybody else get strong reminders of video games of Control and Alan Wake?

I feel like they would fit well within this universe. I'll go as far to say that Severance could make a good IP in the video game universe. Give it to Remedy and let them run with it

This is my takeaway. For years, people scoured every new episode of Lost, hosted viewing parties with their friends, and lived that show. Then the finale didn't land and most act like the whole thing was a lost cause. They had fun for 99% of the time, and then it was all for not?

I also agree that the point is to be different. We don't need every show to be a cookie-cutter straight line from A-B. I love that this show isn't for everybody.
