Give me 84 regular season games over this all day.
9.756% actually. Fake news.

Right about the 7 minute left mark I was thinking to myself, that the team looked like they were playing to not make mistakes as opposed to playing to win. The Jets goal was inevitable at that point I felt.

That’s why I said nearly.

They can lose like that all year. Play hard, stay in games and get a great spot in the draft.

A 4th line with Pospisil centering (Klapka and Lomberg) would be fun, but id like him playing higher up in the lineup.

I got a bit of a hard time from him and the other instructor/teacher trying to get into the Radio program at SAIT approx 14 years ago, I accidently said Calgary Hitman, instead of Hitmen, nothing awful, but it stuck with me, haha. I actually got accepted to the course, but decided to go else where. Wonder where id be if I took that course at SAIT.

Anytime I see Hitmen or Hitman I get flashbacks to Michael Buffer calling Bret Hart, Bret the Hitman Clarke.

Huh, didn't realize Huska played with Iginla in Kamloops for a few years, that's cool.

Yeah it looked like a ‘wires crossed’ situation

I don't think it will be a big deal this season - Huska has said they intend to roll 4 lines. And the way the lineup is built, they don't have a top line.

The other thing is - guys are going to be traded at some point, so playing C on the 4th line sets him up to move up the lineup as the year unfolds.

This team is the furthest thing from a Line 1, Line 2, Line 3, Line 4 situation right now.

I only watched the 3rd period. But my impressions of the final roster.

1. they don’t look uncompetitive
2. powerplay still looks brutal. All centers around pounding shots from the point into the pile. Hopefully that gets better with more practice time.
3. Defensive zone coverage is the biggest problem I see. Same as the pp hopefully that gets better with more practice time
4. Hard to tell how the goalies are because of number 3. If the defense doesn’t get better they will both need therapists
5. The other big hole is a lack of finishers in the forward group. Both games against the Jets I thought that was a big differentiator. The Jets big guns finish their opportunities. Ours fire it into the goalies chest.

Lots of work to do. But I don’t think the Flames will be as bad as everyone thinks.

I think the goalies have looked great.

Two of the goals last night were a guy all alone in front with the time to make 3 moves. No goalie on the planet is saving those. The other goal was a seeing eye shot through a heavy screen.

I agree that the biggest challenges this year will be defensive zone coverage (for the next several years), and lack of finish.

I expect the Flames will lose a LOT of one-goal games.

The defense pretty much guarantees the Flames will be bad. Their forward core is nowhere near good enough to outscore their mistakes.

It’s good the team put up a fight, but during a rebuild this is what you get.

That’s what I’m mentally preparing for.
