People will hate hearing it cause he's got a cult like following, but he is fragile and quite frankly his minutes need to be managed and he needs to be sheltered.

The season before last Pelletier was one of the best players on the flames analytics wise in his 24 games... he's coming off a major injury and struggled last year and is building back up. I think it's smart to give him a chance to play his way back into form and see what he's got. If he struggles through a longer sample size, I'm fine with moving him, but it's too soon right now, trading him after two good seasons based on one injury plagued one as he tries to get back to health.
There will be open roster spots after the deadline and they will need all of these younger guys once the UFAs like Kuzmenko, Mantha and Rooney are gone.

Yep, they have lots of options, will need to wait and see,.
However, I do believe Conroy will go by, a player has to earn his roster spot.
If that's the case, he is waived etc.

He practiced with Huberdeau and Mantha yesterday. Hopefully, we see that line tonight.

Yeah, it is why I am not super bullish on him. I think he goes the way of Ferland and he has already had a lot of injuries.

That cult includes Huska and Conroy. Dismissively calling fans of Pospisil and what he adds to the Flames a cult isn't fair.

I didn't call it a cult, or didn't mean to. A cult like following. I meant he's very popular with a group of people. Its a saying.

Any announcement on the roster for tonight’s game? Hoping Coronato and Honzek both draw in for tonight’s game. Pulling for both of them to play well. I know it’s unlikely for both or even one of them to make the opening night roster but but I would want them both to end their training camps on a high not so if they go to the Wranglers, they have some confidence in how close they are to making it.

Yeah, barring injury/illness, Coleman's the only one who won't be playing tonight who will certainly be in the roster on Wednesday.
Honzek is in his spot tonight.
Here are the lines from practice:

3 spots still there so they have the room, either way for Coleman.

Assuming the players who were on waivers yesterday get sent down, they're left with 16 forwards, 8 defence, and 3 goalies.
Assuming Cooley will be odd-man out in goal, that leaves 24 skaters to fill 21 spots.
----------
The question is whether they'll go with 14F/7D or 13F/8D to start?
If they go with 7 D, the odd-man out is likely Hanley.
If they go with 14 F, Schwindt and Coronato are the easy choices to be sent down. It rewards Honzek for a great camp and avoids putting Pelletier on waivers.
If they go with 13 F, the choice is between Honzek and Pelletier. If that happens, my guess is they'll tell Honzek to keep up the good play with the Wranglers, and it will just be a matter of time until he's back.

Can the flames do something cheeky like waive a veteran no one would ever claim in order to keep Peltier, Honzek and Klapka on the opening day roster?

As long as they don't have a NMC, any player can be waived (Huberdeau, Kadri, and Backlund are the only NMCs on the team), but they would still need to send that player to the AHL if he cleared.

Hes popular because hes quickly turning into a great player.
Hes got speed, especially crazy acceleration, hands, IQ, hits hard, a deceptively fast release and a motor that doesnt quit. His puck pursuit is unrivaled on this team. Plus other players want to kill him and he drags his team into the fight.
Yes, his concussion history is a concern but I believe he is going to be the heartbeat of the Flames and hes about to have a monster year.

This is my big concern. He plays a very agitating style, but he won't (can't) answer for it. He's going to be target for cheap shots if not just big hits. I hope for the best but I'd limit those minutes.

The Flames braintrust are desperate for someone from the system to play middle-six centre. And they clearly see a better fit in Pospisil - his size, skating - than they do in Zary.
Pospisil will get a good, long audition at C with quality wingers. Unless he totally craps the bed, he’s not playing on the 4th line any time soon.

No question Pospisil plays an agitating style that makes the opposition want to engage him in fights but dragging his teammates into the fight is about bringing out their competitiveness; not getting them to literally fight.
