Grushnikov looked steady as hell. His gaps are great and he closes immediately when he has to. I wouldn’t be surprised if he made the team out of camp

We need to bring in a couple of scouts from Dallas into Calgary. They have had a real good run of scouting lately. The same can be said of Carolina.

Jealous of Dallas. Especially getting Wyatt Johnston. Kids a stud

Also as Conroy mentioned in a FlamesTV interview this week - some guys are not going to be very good and game ready in July

Conroy mentioned he talked to Coronato and Stromgren, both of them wanted to go to the development camp and help some of the young guys along.

They found some studs when they had a lot of draft picks. But their scouts had some misses recently too. The common theme seems to be that the guys Dallas picked on skill alone are the ones who hit. Drafting upside, not surprisingly, seems to be the key in getting good players.

They had a great 2017 getting Oettinger and Robertson (Heiskenan was an easy pick, but TBF I’d rather have Makar). They hit on Johnson and Stankoven (so far). But Mavrik Bourque may be a flop. Ty Dellandrea has only 42 points in 151 games - not good enough for a top 15 pick in 2018.

A lot of pining over Dallas. Didn’t they have one of the oldest teams in the league last year?
Third oldest behind Pittsburgh and Esmonton. They were a seniors home.

Really shows you how committed both Matty and William are to this team.
The fact both wanted to come to prospect camp just to set an example and help the young guys speaks spades for their development.
I’d love to see both playing up with the flames at some point here.
I think William starts on the farm and plays his way on, whereas Matty has a chance to take a spot out of camp.
Couple more years of strong / low picks or even a lottery pick would do wonders for this teams rebuild. Which goes to show you that this fan base just wants to get better, we don’t want to rush and try and salvage a window that doesn’t exist.
Lots of picks, use them on skilled guys like this year and we’re setting ourselves up for a hell of a team in 2 years.

It's going to be interesting to see where prospects like Stromgren go in the prospect rankings.
He was 10th last year with many assuming he wasn't a guy on the NHL radar.
He's clearly improved a lot and would likely finish 5th or 6th if run against the exact same field as a year ago.
But with all the draft picks and trades, plus keeping Wolf and Coronato in the poll he likely moves backwards, which isn't an indication of his year over year value, but a statement on the team's prospect depth.
Thanks for all the updates from camp everyone. Great Sunday morning reading.

This why it sucked when Treliving tossed away picks for junk.
Get as many picks as possible and let the scouts cook. They have shown when they have the picks they can find some real gems.
Exciting to read about the skill level and how many prospects look good.
That Misa pick feels like it could be a steal.

They are stuck with Seguin and Benn.
They gave one-year deals to Pavelski and Duchene, traded for a few months of Tanev. Those short term pieces being old isn't a problem because they are not stuck with them. Even the Benn mess ends this year and Nill appears to have learned the lesson.
