Whether or not he pans out or not.. signing him shouldn't be an issue. It just means that Flames won't need to go dumpster diving during free agency to find depth 6/7 dman. They typically do that every off-season anyway.

Let’s be honest. You didn’t know who this player was before yesterday. It doesn’t even sound like you do today outside of his name, age, and position. That’s fair, because I’d bet few of us did.
So, who did? Vegas knew. Calgary knew.
Most people, when faced with an opinion based on a complete lack of knowledge, are happy to listen what those more in the know than they are have to say about it and adjust their opinion accordingly. That includes Calgary, other players/coaches/trainers/etc, media guys, and so on.
There’s nothing admirable about sticking your head in the sand and claiming everyone who disagrees with you, given the complete lack of substance your opinion is based on, is either carrying water for the Flames or whatever. It makes you look stubborn at best and stupid at worst. There’s nothing interesting or worthy of praise for forming an “opinion on your own” when people who know more than you do are suggesting the opinion isn’t a very good once. Like, good for you? You formed an opinion? Toddlers have opinions, should we clap because you came up with one, too?

I think a lot of people need a refresher about opinions. Opinions are free, and as such people should have as many opinions as possible. If you don’t have your own opinions you’re letting other people do your thinking for you. What opinions are not are facts. Too many people fail to grasp that and end up waiving their opinions around as facts or truth. Too many people also tend to invest their identity in their opinions and end up defending them beyond the point of rationality. All this tends to drag CP down into the muck.
Of course that’s just my opinion.

I probably watch more Golden Knights games than anyone on this forum. They're just on the TV where I live. For free.
But I doubt you actually care what I think of the guy. Conroy says different. So just believe him.

Never said smokescreen. I called it an act of desperation. There's no hiding that this return is underwhelming, so if it is a smokescreen, it is not a very good one.

No, actually if you've watched him play at all I think we'd all be happy to hear some actual observations on the type of player he is and his capabilities, but you're not interested in backing up your position with any sort of merit, you just like to tell us all how we're all stupid sheeple. Seems pretty counterproductive to actual discussion calling everyone idiots and then not adding anything useful to that discussion. It's almost as if, nah, you wouldn't be a simple internet troll, would you?

I respect the plundering of the island of misfits Toys Conroy and Company have been doing in these trades.
All players with niggles and warts that just are looking for a real chance. To me, that's how you instill loyalty. Give them a shot, if they pan out its pure profit.

I'll freely admit that I don't know anything about him. Apparently, you do, but you're not going to share because ... reasons. You used Oesterle as an example. Are you saying that he is a player similar to Oesterle?
Ok, so signing a two-year extension is "an act of desperation"; for what purpose?

You can be underwhelmed with the return and still appreciate the direction the team is going in. Yes, everyone wishes Conroy could have gotten more / better assets but we have an additional unprotected first, a 3rd and a (probable) roster player. This is already at least equal to or better than our returns for Iginla and Bouwmeester.

Dude's been injured almost all year, played 4 games with Vegas (and 5 with Henderson). So watching lots of Vegas games wouldn't exactly provide a lot of info.

Ah, right, so expressing an opinion that goes against the organization's narrative is trolling. Got it.
Would love to see the post where I called anyone an idiot. But if people are going to paint me with a broad brush then turnabout is fair play.
Go see what I said about the Lindholm trade.

Ah the old, "I live near where this guy plays so I have specifically watched him so I know" argument.
Never heard that one before.

Heck if he sucks that'll just contribute to tanking next year.
Fact is the team needs some warm bodies to fill out the D.

Weird, cause if you take the eye test/bias out of it and just look at the guys possession stats, albeit in small sample sizes, he looks pretty good.
But that's just me up here in Northern Alberta looking at stats that could be from anywhere, even in Vegas!
