100%. Everyone just looks at stats and makes their determinations off of that. Well, how did that work out for the Flames? James Neal was a 10 x 20 goal scorer, but looked like a total noob on skates here. Ditto for Huberdeau who set records prior to wearing the Flaming C.

Always have to delve deeper than just the numbers. Based on what we saw over their careers as Flames, Gaudreau and Tkachuk were very much drivers and I'd even give Johnny the slight nod. If he played on the same Florida Panthers team, there's no doubt in my mind Gaudreau would've been 100+ points too.

Pretty easy to score more points when your team is in the offensive zone 50%-60% of the time as opposed to Columbus where they were defending 50%-60% of the time. Scoring rates naturally would drop off considerably regardless of your linemates.

even though it isn't a current threat, I think it surfaced a risk of being separated by a border. So I agree, it likely was a factor. Particularly for a family that seems very close.

I saw these guys party, it's no surprise to me and nor would I don't judge. But for the OP to say that's the primary driver in why his wife wanted him out sounds absurd.

But yeah, I agree with you. His wife absolutely wanted to be back in the USA and back close to home. That Frank Seravalli seemed pretty spot on to me.

Not sure what a deal would look like, (some even suggesting a John for John swap with salary retention to even out the cap hits) and we don't know what Kek's mindset is, but what would the appetite be around here for this?

Do you believe in second chances after a sour departure? Is Gaudreau even worth it still after 30?
I think of all the parties involved last summer, only Tkachuk wouldn't want a do over.

Those points weren't as high as Sutter , oh and by the way, Peter's didn't lead a loser franchise to a 7th game of the Stanley cup finals and didn't win 2 cups. You may not want to accept that but that's the reality.

Never would I ever want him back in Calgary. He isn’t the answer to anything. He made his choice so now he can go be irrelevant in Columbus. Huberdeau is who we got and I’ll support him because he wanted to be in Calgary.

Looks like a guy that is inconsistent year over year and needs a new coach to get him going every other year.
Or…

He’s played for two of the most middling-to-bad organizations in the league.

And was asked to do wayyy too much as a 5 ft 8 160 lb LW.

Huby and Johnny hockey both benched.

Time to trade and admit mistakes were made by all parties

What a crazy coincidence that Johnny gets benched for half the third in his last game, and then the guy we acquired to replace him gets benched for the third in the very next game.

Like hockey is just so weird sometimes.

A benched former 115-point left winger for benched former 115-point winger swap would be pretty sweet right about now..

Flipping Huberdeau for Gaudreau would instantly resurrect Lindholm's game. Then we bring Coronato back up...

Gaudreau Lindholm Coronato
Sharangovich Kadri Zary
Coleman Backlund Mangiapane
Dube Ruzicka Duehr

You mean we could have a 1st, 2nd and 3rd line again?
