Watching live you can see so much open ice being wasted by useless point shots into the crest a slapper with nothing on it right in the crest.
Skate the puck in deeper thrown it into the crowd have it bounce off a skate or something. Take time pick a corner.
Kadri does a great job skating in with speed pushing Dallas back has a guy down the middle and trailing on the point wide open but nope let me put this into the goalies crest for a stoppage.
They played a lot better but man they lack that extra push.
Zary looked great a lot of hustle and speed. If that goal goes in that’s a goal of the year right there.
Oesterle is just as bad live as he is on tv.

I've said it before...you want Huberdeau gone? Someone gift me a Huberdeau jersey. The moment I get a named jersey that player is gone within 3-6 months.
Its a bullet-proof track record. Gaudreau, Monahan, Regehr, Jagr...I'm serious. From the moment I get a named jersey the clock starts ticking. Its uncanny.
Tonight Weegar was the only veteran player whose GAF meter even registered. It was embarrassing.

His contract is essentially buyout proof. Not a shot we want to pay the guy until 2038.

Well, honestly speaking, given their current records, the Flames scoring issues and the Stars goalie...I'd expected them to hand us a 5 or 6-1 loss.
I'll take a 4-3. Haven't seen the highlights yet, but it sounds like the Flames showed some sparks of life.

We all want the Flames to better off at the end of the 2024 draft.

It’s true - I have never seen this place so united about the quality of the roster, and the futility of the current direction. Even during the last bottoming out post-Iginla people were against losing for draft position.

Might be the first time I found their playing style entertaining in spite of the score, and it was mostly due to pace. I think that lent itself to more battles along the boards won as well.
It's crazy how much more competent a team can look just by playing a bit faster and hitting more of their passes than not.
|
It was 2/3 of a good game. They dominated the first but the late goal killed the lead. They sucked in the 2nd. Badly outplayed. And another late goal. They were better in the 3rd.

I got 5 on a Huberdope jersey for Locke. that number 10 jersey should be pretty cheap right about now.
I watched a bit of that game at Mugshotz. Wings were the best part of the night aside from the zary goal. That's what youth does when you give them a shot. They play with courage.
That stretch in the second period was what this team looked like last year and so far they look entirely similar. They have no ability to stem the tide of momentum when good teams start to lean on us. They also couldn't muster any zone time to wrestle momentum away from dallas at all.
Sure the flames had a "decent" third with "resolve" but I counter with the fact Dallas had taken their foot off the gas and went into game management mode. Usually that's a bad sign for a team but playing the flames, we could only muster one goal and that was a deflection off a dallas player. This flames offensive team is decaying before our eyes. Good year to do it.
Tanev will be a good return and so will lindholm due to cap hit. Hanifin I don't know. He's so unconfident and not physical. Way less physical for a top four dman that doesn't add much to a pp.
Sure Kadri "looked" better but he's still the same guy, firing pucks into the goalies crest that are easily corraled and end an offensive rush.
Like who could they put on waivers? Backlund? probably no. Kadri? after giving up monohan and a first? probably no. Huberdeau? you can't. but then again, maybe you can. who would claim him? anyone know how much cap we would save by burying him in the minors? I don't think he brings anything to this team but bad body language. Perhaps he's colluding with Conroy to be our official tank commander?
It's a really good top end of the draft. Plus there is a lot of depth not last year deep but deep nonetheless.

He wasn't the one that walked Gaudreau to free agency or bridged Tkachuk.
He wasn't the one that left to be closer to family in Columbus.
He wasn't the one that asked for a trade because he wanted to live an golf in Florida.
He wasn't the one who demands that the team try to win now instead of rebuilding.
He wasn't the coach who couldn't just not be an ####### for 5 minutes or try to at least be a little collaborative with others in the org.
Yet it feels like the fan base seems to blame him (and Kadri) for all of those things even though neither of them had anything to do with it. They are just the ones that committed to the city and now have to wear the blame for all those other decisions since those other guys are all gone.
|
All true. But he's the guy who's here. And that's why he gets the flak.

They actually were pretty unlucky around the net. They did throw it into crowds quite a bit. A D kick saved a sure goal, Zary just missed on his own rebound, Oettinger sat on a bounce off gthe post and had no clue where it was.

Thats thing about my super-power...I've never bought a named a jersey. They have all been gifts.
Thats my secret. You gift me a named a jersey and that player is history is 3-6 months.
I think its part of being a Flames fan, you have to embrace the self-loathing and you just have to roll with it.
Being a Flames fan is, in itself, inherently unpleasant. Its really the suffering that brings us all together.
