This.
Big frames take time to really pay off, but he's already showing signs of being a very dynamic player without that mass and strength.
If you can get skills in a frame like that you have to go for it, even if there's risk of him not panning out.
This could be a massive home run, but we just don't know right now.

Not sure how anyone had that much free time to fit that in through all the complaining about not getting a 2nd for Toffoli.

No it didn't
They made a list...he was the top player available on their list

I’d rather have him then Benson. Size + skill wins cups. We watched almost a decade of JG getting rubbed out of almost every series he played in

Jonathan Marchessault would probably disagree.

I'm convinced North American people who scout and interview these guys are enamored with good interviewees and thus guys who are gaming the system a bit. So this could be a bias. Based on where some people ranked him, and some of these situations, I'm willing to see how they develop him. He doesn't seem sexy but year over year the mocks are wrong completely so let's see. Not convinced either way.

I mean ya but the rest of the team is huge. Flames have enough shorter guys. I think his profile was needed in the farm

Well this encourages me more than what the FAN had to say after the pick. It wasn't exactly glowing.
6'4" with skill and strong edges sounds like a safe pick.

Good chance of being a player still but if we can trust the pro scouts he may have let a future star slip by him.
We'll see..

98% of fans here are going based off very little right now.

Agreed with this. Honzek feels like a safe pick that should make the NHL no matter what
Sandin-Pellikka was picked at 17th and would have been a more much compelling and interesting pick though

There was only a single mainstream mock that had him going above our pick. Most had him in 20s and a few around 18.
This was a reach. They zeroed in on a guy they liked. Someone here dropped this as the pick to look out for 2 months ago (Jiri maybe?)
Imo bad omen.

And according to what I’ve read, he already has some great athletic attributes.
In the dreaded Wingate bike station to measure peak power output, he finished first by generating 22.4 watts per kilogram.
He was second in the standing broad jump with a leap of 117.5 inches, third in the forced plate, no-arm jump at 19.5 inches, and tied for fourth at 4.32 seconds in the agility shuttle run when starting from the right.
And all of this after the freak leg accident cut.
I like this pick.

When the 2% have the opposite opinion you do and most of the other 98% are less confident than you, it might be a sign.
