Yeah, that's my issue with people's takes on his 55 point season after everything that happeend last season for him and the team. I get the frustration, but there's many acting like 55 is now who he is and would take some minor miracle to put up a PPG or higher ever again. It ignores all factors from last season and the previous four.

I think when it comes to Huberdeau, two things really screwed him up last season:

1) A system in which he was a cog that did not fit
2) An overall miserable experience from being surprised at being traded, to trading in his Lambo for a truck and a house on the shore, to not having fun, to having to deal more with the media - just a cumulative snowball effect.

This season, he knows what to expect. He knows Huska too. He is settled now. Huska is tasked with changing him from simply being a cog to becoming a focal point on offence. My expectations is simply "much better than last season", but I also wouldn't be shocked to see him just rack up points quickly either with all these weights lifted off from him. He may even raise some eyebrows around the league. I have no idea what to expect, but the only surprise I would have is to see him repeat last year's performance. I think he will be substantially better.

Markstrom was and it wasn't even close.

Problem with Looch was Sutter played him too damn much. He was amazing after he was benched for those 3-4 games, but then idiot Sutter never benched him again for the rest of the season.

4 years over a PPG pace leading into the trade season.

Kadri should be considered a much greater risk of not reaching his highs again given that his avs season was such an outlier from the rest.

Huberdeau has a history of sustaining PPG pace and with his style of play he should have plenty of runway to do it a few more times at 30.

55 isn't the new normal for him. That's more likely the absolute floor until he's 35/36.
