Listening to press conferences, Sutter rarely took shots at Kadri and often came to his defense.
But I wouldn't be shocked if Huby is gone this off-season, especially if Sutter stays. He's not a prototypical Sutter player and if there's a rift between Tre and Sutter on roster construction, I couldn't imagine who else it might be about.

Explain how a bunch of the Avs had career years?
Kadris issue was his ego and bad attitude. Selfish offensively and weak on back checks. His points seemed in like with his career numbers but his game was missing the compete fire the agitation.
Frankly he was the poster boy for what was wrong with the way we played.
Huberdeau bought into the system and did what he could and was misused all season. He was treated poorly from the get go by the coach but still played within the system that saw his point total tank.
If anyone should be moved it's Kadri. Seems like a crappy teammate on top of being awful on the ice.
Huberdeau will bounce back if they rectify the coaching. Reminds of Dale Hunter trying to turn Ovechkin into a grinder.

I thought the young guys looked good and glad for Zadorov.
I was surprised by some of Coronato's moves in tight to get the puck on net. Happy to have a shoot first player.

I expect he'll get an opportunity with an NHL team other than Calgary. It will be interesting to see. He's UFA now, so truly free for a team to sign him, even more free than a waiver claim.

Weird season is weird. Capped off with a Zadorov hat trick. What a beauty he is.
- Coronato looked a little spastic to start, but settled right in and looked like a top six player. He was buzzing, creating, shooting, showing confidence holding the puck and even battling with no fear. The skating is ugly, but it works.
- I was definitely a bit miffed that Sutter didn't give him one sniff at the PP. I mean, come on.
- Wolf looked really good, but also really small. He was a smidge indecisive playing the puck, but also that could just be getting used to those defensemen and how they like it to be played. Otherwise, lightning fast reflexes.
Shoutout to the dome crowd actually. Very energetic for a meaningless game on a weekday at 8:00PM.

Sutter alluded to part of the reason in his post game interview. He mentioned that there were a number of vets who were on track to play the full 82 this season (Lewis among them) and he gave them the choice to play the last game or not. Lucic ended with only 77 GP, but maybe he wanted to be in since it could be his last as a Flame?

Went to bed after the second period, so it was a good surprise top wake up to.
One last time this season:
Here's to more stop-motion madness next season

Huby will turn around under a different system and he's a clearly a talented player. However, after 82 games I think it's plausible to suggest he's not a player that can be effective offensively while playing in Sutter's system. Some players can adjust and some players can't. And so if Sutter is staying and Huby is a poor fit with the coach and his system...it seems somewhat obvious to consider trading the player.
Kadri started the year really well, played the system effectively and then weakened down the stretch. To me, that's likely fatigue. He's clearly the less talented of the two players but he plays a style of game more suited to Sutter hockey. I've never heard rumors of the guy being a bad teammate, so I'll take that with a grain of salt.

Yeah I don't think he's 6'0" at all.
After a puck freeze he was talking to Pelletier nose to nose and they appeared to be the same height.
He looked much smaller than Saros to me.
Didn't seem to matter!

The point is that 33 years old is an age where a goalie is going to be declining. Based on your data it appears it is a young players position.

The goal against was a tough one for Wolf, gave up a bad rebound on a difficult shot. But after that he was just solid. The team played with more confidence in front of him as the game progressed. I don't think he gave up another bad rebound the rest of the game. .958SV% is a hell of a way to start your NHL career.

Why was Coronato allowed to warmup without a helmet? I thought it was mandatory for rookies?
Is it because he is already 20?

He mentioned in one of his interviews the team took it on him as a joke.

I didn't notice Wolf having puck handling issues. I thought he was a little scattered in his tracking and movement in the first. I was glad he rebounded after the juicy rebound goal. It was nice of the Flames to eliminate almost any good chances in the first. I mean, those were ridiculously easy shots. He made quality saves in the third. You are right about his size. There is a lot of open net when he crouches into position.
I would have liked to see Coronato and Pelletier on the power play and I have no idea why they weren't. They were for sure the most energetic players on the ice. Of course, meaningless last game, you expect the vets to mail it in a bit. Lucic had some energy - threw a few hits. I think he wanted a good last performance. Too bad Stone got burned in what is likely his last game.
Agree on the crowd and I think it was partly due to the seats being filled with people excited just to be at a game - I bet a lot of people were given tickets. I noticed a lot of people not knowing where their seats were, and generally acting like they were new.

That won't matter unless he does the Markstrom trick where he turns into a 5'5 goalie deep in his net.

Was embarrassing being at the game when they made the players throw t shirts to the fans.
But then as I walked away I realized that’s a perfect punishment for this group of bums.
