My interest and passion faded long ago. This year I attended zero games and watched none from start to finish. I would catch a period or two here and there, but would eventually flip channels.
For me it’s a combination of being a new parent (no time), cheering for a perpetual mediocre/####ty team for what seems like my entire life, lack of interest in the game as a whole these days (no passion anymore from the players), and most importantly, my jaded perception of pro sports as a whole.
I can no longer stomach and support the direction pro sports is going in terms of politics and the sheer amount of money being paid to players, coaches, and owners. There is a real problem with society when no one blinks an eye at the godly amount of money athletes are making, yet I can’t even afford to take my family to see a game any longer without it costing a days salary. Quite frankly I don’t care about sports anymore and will not spend any money to any league other than the CFL (I feel sorry for those guys, they deserve a little more).
