Lots of talk about Huberdeau's season this year...but in the last 15 games he is tied for the team lead with 10 points at 5v5 (T-21st in the NHL) and leads the team with 72% goals for at 5v5 down the stretch (13 GF, 5 GA).
Some big plays in key games too.
Coaching staff still needs go figure out how to build the top PP unit around him and Lindholm...but he's figuring it out at 5v5.

I’m excited that Zadorov is signed for another year; he’s not perfect, but he is consistently trying to be an impact player and when it works he’s one of the most athletically gifted giants in the game.

So, the Flames need what? A lot of help? Some help? No help at all to make the dance?
I figured they lost control of their fate last night.
Really not here to be a Debbie downer but this feels like lipstick on a pig hanging off the rack in the slaughter house.
The flames have 3 games left, and need to earn more points than the Jets do in their 4 games left.
So, if Calgary goes 3-0, Winnipeg needs to go 3-1 to beat us. Winnipeg has road games against Minny and Colorado.
We aren’t in the drivers seat, but it’s completely reasonable for us to make the playoffs, we have to win all 3 though, maybe 2-0-1 will work, 2-1 likely doesn’t get us in.
Had we lost in regulation today, it was about a 1% chance of us getting in, now it’s perhaps 25-30%
Hawks pulled a miracle, let's put out the Flames.
End it tonight!

I think we will be able to tell what we have in this team based off tonights game. Your season hinges on one game, you have had rest and practice and facing a team that has to be deflated and tired. This has to be our best effort of the season.
Convincing win and I will have some hope heading into playffoffs.

Flames are fragile. Score early and we can put them away

Win or Lose, I predict the Jets play well. Only way I see them losing is if they get goalied or both teams come to play and Jets lose a close one.

Anyone catch Calgary last night..............kadri OMG, talk about mailing it in, then the body language. I would just give Kadri the puck tonite he is definetly booked early tee time and does not want to miss them.
Just the body language after both giveaways, like oh well. Then his comments.........Jets should take advantage.
BONES you watching..................MATCH up Dubois on Kadris line........kadri will want no part.

Those parts of Calgary that the hockey world's eye doth view
Match closely the sounds that hotdog-bloated guts can send;
And Sutter, who presides over these Ass Souls, reaches for his due,
Grunting out some colon-borne words, even so as foes commend.
Jets scoring refreshed thus with more goals are crown'd;
And Markstrom may forget to strap in and stumble - the clown
Offence delivered in other accents which Kadri will confound
Seeing no farther than an Alberta Bovine eye hath shown.
Jets, enact upon the beauty of a D zone activated mind,
And that, no less, lead to fewer shots against and happy deeds;
Backcheck you first liners, and render your shots too unkind,
To thy fair flower wade among the Flame’s rank smell of weeds:
And now show us why thy Flamed odour matcheth not their show,
The solve is this, all four lines must create uncommon flow.

Game preview delivered by William Shakesman by way of GPT4:
In fair Manitoba, where frosty air doth bite, a fierce and icy battle stirs 'twixt Jets of Winnipeg and villainous Flames of Calgary, as they prepare to dance upon the frozen stage.
Fortunes favour the noble Jets at -130, whilst Flames, the cunning underdogs, doth lurk at +110. As the Eastern eve doth fall, half past the seventh hour shall mark the grand event.
Winnipeg, with prideful hearts, bears a record of 43-31-3. The wicked Flames, with cunning guile, hold a record of 36-26-15. On this fateful eve, their third encounter this season, let it not be forgot that the Flames, in villainous conquest, seized victory last, with a score of 3-2.
In the spotlight of our grand tale, heroes and villains emerge. For the valiant Jets, gallant Kyle Connor doth claim 30 goals and 48 assists, while Ehlers, steadfast and true, hath struck six goals and aided twice in the past 10 games. The Flames, led by their villainous mastermind Tyler Toffoli, boast 33 goals and 38 assists, and Jonathan Huberdeau, his loyal henchman, hath scored once and aided seven times in the last 10 games.
But alas, cruel fate hath cast its shadow upon the Jets: gallant Sam Gagner, lost for the season, and brave Cole Perfetti, struck with injury. The Flames, in turn, find themselves bereft of Oliver Kylington, who attends to matters of a personal nature.
As the curtain rises and the mighty clash begins, let us raise our voices and spirits high in support of the noble Jets. For their valour and skill shall be on display, as they strive to vanquish the villainous Flames and claim victory for their fair city of Winnipeg. Stand fast, Jets, as your loyal fans do cheer thee on! With every swift glide upon the ice and every well-aimed strike, may your courage and determination bring forth triumph. For in the annals of hockey's history, this epic battle shall be remembered, and may the Jets of Winnipeg emerge as the shining beacon of victory!
All Hail the Colonel

Not dead yet! No point in hoping for a high draft pick anymore. The Flames season will have one of two outcomes: make the playoffs or miss and draft 14th-16th. So come on Flames, keep going and make the dance!
I hope that the difference between making it and not isn't the tie breaker criteria. That would just be too much to bear.
I don't like wins being the first tie breaker either. I wish they used goal differential as the first criteria, then wins. It would promote scoring, especially down the stretch in these kinds of races. Winnipeg would still likely win the tie break (currently 16 vs. 8), but it would still make it more interesting in general and give teams a fighting chance instead of just knowing there is no hope to win the tie break at this point. Of course making up 8 goals with 3 games to their 4 would still be extremely unlikely, it wouldn't be impossible.

I don't even understand when opposing fans are always calling us dirty and complaining about Lucic.
We're outside of the top 10 in PIM and Zadorov (most PIM) is only 24th in the league. Lucic throws some big hits if he can actually catch someone, but the hits are rarely dirty, and he barely fights.
Like, where is this coming from??
It feels like it stems back to when Maurice accused Chucky of trying to murder Schiefle, but he's not even on the team anymore! (Side note, I wonder if Chucky ever confronted Maurice about that garbage).

He's been great... the pass to Mangiapane in coverage on the first goal was unexpected but it worked!
Don't see anyone complaining about Rasmus Andersson on the ATL. Just the dorks in attendance I guess.
To think if we beat the Hawks and finish the season 3 - 0, that would have meant the Jets would have needed to go 4 - 0 to finish the season to overtake us. Makes last night that much more frustrating.
Surprised they won tonight, I thought the towel was going to be thrown in. I didn't watch most of the game but sounds like it was a battle and Markstrom played great.
Need a lot to go our way but hopefully Preds get beat tomorrow and in one last ditch effort to make it, beat the Jets Saturday.
