A model Flame.

A lot depends on who will extend in Calgary.
Time will tell.

Backs has earned the right to call it. If he wants a shot at a cup, you facilitate that trade. If he wants to retire a Flame, you get it done. And for the love of god, slap that damn C on his chest in that case. Should have been done a long time ago.

Should have been done the minute Gio was gone.

I was worried he wouldn’t sign, but never said he wouldn’t.
It’s the combination of Harvard, the fact the Flames, at the moment, have a coach that isn’t exactly renowned as being rookie-friendly and there not being a ton of open roster spots next season. I’m happy he did sign though.

Based on his draft/post-draft year results, how are the prospect gurus out there seeing Coronato’s potential?
We looking at a potential top6 or middle 6 winger?

I think by most accounts, he's projected as a top 6 player. Likely won't be a "star" but never say never. And hoping is fun.

He is the right guy to do it for a lot of reasons.

You’re not really describing communism here so much as an absolute monarchy.

This is totally off topic, but in general, people really don't seem to understand what communism is.

I think he has a chance to be a star if Huberdeau regains his form.

Isn't communism what every liberal government is secretly moving us towards and therefore we need to embrace far right movements to stop it?!?!?!

So "loyalty" or simply "contentment with living here" are grounds for naming a guy Captain? Good grief.
Can anyone tell me what Backs has done in the time period Gio left that NOW makes him Captain material instead of then? Because I've seen Blake freaking Coleman get up and speak to the media a hell of a lot more this season than Captain extraordinaire Michael Backlund.
It really just speaks to how depressing this organization is right now that people want to gift a C to a 3rd line centre with no real discernable leadership skills apart from the fact that he's been here the longest.
Talk about failing upwards.

I never really worry about captain discussion, as it's so far from grasp for us fans, yet everyone tries to apply their guesses and feelings towards who would make a good one.
It's just not conducive to a fan base that isn't in the room to really understand what makes a good captain and more importantly who even holds those qualities in the room. I mean some of the best and most respected captains weren't even that vocal in the room.....or maybe on another team with another group, a vocal captain is what draws respect and success?
We just don't know what works for each team AND we don't know who has the qualities away from the public eye that work for that team, anyways. So I'm baffled when fans anoint someone "captain material" or get upset that they haven't been named yet.
