Okay I went and looked at all the starts Markstrom had this year.

He has allowed a goal on the first 3 shots of a game in 15 starts. (1st x6, 2nd x4, 3rd x5)
He has also not allowed a goal on the first 3 shots of a game in the other 15 starts.

How much more would that line produce if there was an offensively skilled player on it?

Do you consider Mangiapane and Dube better offensively than Looch? Because when they were with Naz, their xG% was 49.1% (worse than the current line with Looch). Or perhaps Huberdeau and Mangiapane with Naz? Also worse at 42.9%.

So based on what's been tried, Looch-Naz-Huberdeau is the better line.

It's a shame because their normal thirds (Actually not sure if they still use them, but like the '17 winter classic jersey) are possibly the nicest jerseys I've ever seen. These? Giant bleh

A bunch of those were from that stretch where it happened consistently (and Vladar got swept up in it in his start as well - 2 goals in 3 shots).

But I bet you’d be surprised at how many time a goalie who finishes at, say .900 save% lets in one in the first 5 shots in a game. .900 is a goal every ten shots so it stands to reason half of those come in the first 5 and half in the second.
