I don't see that happening, myself. Prospects getting called up and sitting in the press box and then sent down happens when they're called up as injury insurance. Aka, one forward injured, team slots their regular 13th forward in, prospect sits and draws in if a second forward injury occurs.
This isn't that. The team has made a decision to bring him up and see what he can do here despite there being no injuries. They won't sit a player for a week and send him down in that situation.

Move Mangiapane back to the left side and let Dube center the fourth line.
Best chance for Phillips to succeed if it is going to happen.
Reality of it is that Phillips will probably not even dress.
His call up is a marketing appeasement to the fans to say "Hey you asked for it, and we are giving Phillips a shot".
He won't dress and Sutter can say that Phillips just never looked up to NHL speed in the pregame skates to warrant dressing him. Nobody would know, and Sutter can then tell the fanbase to shut up with their opinions of what he should be doing regarding the lineup.

Yup ... this move also handcuffs the Wranglers. They have to make a recall from Rapid City now. Expecting Kerins soon

Name a team where most of the goal production doesn't come from the 1st line

Clearly CBJ is so bad that an AHL team can beat them.

No, we aren't. I mean, I guess eight of you guys would be pissed, but the vast majority if the rest of us would just be happy to see the team play well, with or without Phillips in the lineup.

Hard to ignore if Brett is talking about how great the guy is.

At the same time, Sutter tends to give the recalls a couple of days/practices to get acclimated to the big club, which is why I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't play tomorrow or Saturday.

Taking a while to get to 5000
|
So, with Rooney being waived and Steinberg reporting that Lewis has ben playing through some stuff I wonder if Dube moves down to 4C where he plays with and has had chemistry with Lucic. Maybe that also gets Lucic going? Is that possible? Who knows. Then Phillips plays up with Mangiapane & Kadri?
Possible there is another call up so maybe I should hold off on fantasy line ups until I can scratch Lucic

I know, but familiarity with line-mates is helpful too.
Not to mention, a chance for the coach to work with him a bit too
