Fun game. Rooting for overtime!
Why?

As a Flames - Coyotes fan you should want a Flames win and -2 Bedard points.

The Coyotes can save their point accumulating games for beating the Oilers

Especially at 5v5 all of Gaudreau, Lindholm and Tkachuk didn’t produce a ton those first 30 games under Sutter as they learned to play a more responsible 200ft game.

Gaudreau: 15 in 30
Tkachuk: 14 in 30
Lindholm: 13 in 30

Huberdeau: 7 in 21 (10 in 30 pace)

So off the pace of those guys still too but I’d argue since his was a trade he probably had an even bigger overall adjustment to make.
Flames also had those 4 basically exhibition games against the Canucks in the bubble season where guys padded stats

Ah screw it, they'll lose plenty. I still want to see the Flames win but I want it to be close!

The last two games, I’ve seen Huberdeau gift guys wide open cages at least three times where they didn’t finish.

His style of “just be in open ice and I’ll get it to you” is probably stranger to get used to than we think.

He needs to move his feet more. He spends way too much time gliding. I don’t know if this is conditioning or what, but if Huberdeau wants to play with more pace, Huberdeau should start playing with more pace.

It’s what happens when you’ve developed a habit of letting in softies - you stop getting the benefit of the doubt.

Not to mentioned those 3 played together for 3 seasons maybe not on the same line but on the power play allergic the time and had some chemistry.

I'm sure others have pointed this out, but the way teams are playing Huberdeau reminds me of how they used to play Johnny before Tkachuk was moved up. Double team him and don't focus on the linemates.
Like Gaudreau, Huberdeau is the guy that creates, while Lindholm and Toffoli are finishers. Since his linemates aren't guys that can just create offense on their own, the whole line is much less effective.

I know everyone thinks we need a Duclaire type of player on the opposite wing, but I think we might be better served with another effective playmaker instead.

IIRC Johnny still played a bunch of games with Mony after Sutter arrived. Once Johnny-Lindy-Chucky were put together as a line, they started to pop off almost right away.

Doesn't Huby have 13 points coming into tonight?

Those shots seem a little misleading to me, I mean the Flames were ok, but it wasn't like they were dominating. Still a lot of players with a lot more to give, I'd like to see them with a lot more pressure in the offensive zone in the 3rd. I can see what Francis was trying to say, the Flames needed to put their foot on the gas and it felt like they let up a bit.
