The highlights Cavalry posted of him look encouraging. Likes to move the ball upfield quickly either by pass or a dribble.
Either that or they just posted every instance of him doing that!

A very interesting signing. I’d be curious to know why a player would move across the globe like this. Is this the best financial offer he had available? Or is the CPL attractive for a player like this because the MLS is reachable with just one good season? I don’t know much about the Aussie league, but I would think it would pay better then the CPL does.
Edit: Just looked at his wiki and he did spend time at Seattle Sounders 2, so he does have some history in North America.

Personally I think he had some OG goals to make MLS but it didn't work out. CPL is an avenue to get back into MLS, but also Canada had some good exposure to competitive soccer in the last year. I wouldn't be surprised if the hype at the WC got Daley interested in playing here.
There will definitely be an opportunity to ask him - probably at one of the beer nights the Cavs do with fans.

He probably liked living in North America and wanted to try something different and get more interesting life experiences by exploring a new country and hanging out in the mountains. Can't blame him.

Asked on the A League subreddit what to expect from Daley and got the following.
"Passionate/hard-working box to box midfielder. Not really special at anything but will probably be serviceable for you guys. Didn’t really cut it at A-League level"
So basically, a classic Cavalry signing. Sounds like a Simmons replacement.

I'm surprised they haven't tried to pry Jeremy Hall out of retirement at this point.

I think we have the room to get excited though. The CPL is nowhere near top-30 in the world for leagues, while the A-League is definitely significantly higher in quality than ours. Daley will do fine in the CPL.

Yep, I agree. Potentially having the skillset to be relatively better in CPL than A-League. Plus he's only 25 so there is room for growth.
Nothing wrong with getting a steady hand. And with a multi-year contract in place there's a good chance Tommy likes what he brings to the table from a Gaffer standpoint.

Fans will love his energy and his workrate, that's good for clubs to have. Not am impact signing but a solid get I think considering the current state of the midfield.

Yeah I agree, it keeps him as the #1 while still waiting for that big break. Likely gives both sides a win-win situation. I would be surprised if he sticks out the entire length of the contract.

I don't think he's better than CPL quality. I think MLS is unrealistic.

Now that World Cup is over, anyone else getting super excited already for the 2023 season? Sucks that it's still four months away

The 2022 schedule dropped at the beginning of February. 2019 and 2020 schedules were released even later in February. So… about 6 weeks until we can start circling calendars. That’ll be a nice little treat to look forward to.

The players union has been recognized by the league.
I'm really impressed with the direction of the league since Noonan took over the commissioner role. Recognizing the union, increasing the salary cap, actually meeting with supporters in every city. Not scared to make tough decisions like folding Edmonton as well.

Seems like a good sign to have the union and league form a strong partnership. There's no way a fledgeling league in a small market with insane travel costs can survive if they waste any time bickering in a way that places a burden on their fans like we see in other leagues.

Cavalry confirm 9 players returning for 2023. Also some contract details in the article. Escalante, Fisk, Klomp, Aird, Alarcon, Ntignee and Smith-Doyle all have a club option for 2024. Charlie Trafford signed for 2023.
Vliet's option was declined due to "international roster requirements". That sucks.
