First wranglers game tonight with my son’s U13 hockey team. Lots of goals, a fight, no bathroom lineups… loved it. Phillips and Zary are a treat to watch live. SJ started gooning it up in the 2nd.

Let me know how Kerins looks please, can’t watch tonight
Kerins looked pretty good tonight, had a goal called back and couldn't get his stick on another sure goal. He pays a lot of attention to his defensive duties, and to coming back hard to help out his D. Have to wonder how he would look playing on the top 2 lines. Still not the quickest, but not slow either.
First live Wranglers game tonight for me and some family, and we were treated to a good game, with a bit of animosity. Loved watching Zary, Zohorna, and Phillips, and I'm a huge fan of Ben Jones.

We were there as well. Definitely an exciting game, they put on a good show. I thought the refs lost control of the game by the end - our seats are a few rows behind the penalty box and after goal number 8 the refs couldn't figure out which penalized player should be coming back out of the box/bench. There were only seconds left so it didn't really matter, but was emblematic. I think it started in the first when a SJ player crosschecked a wrangler in the neck after the play right in from of the ref and no call, and things escalated from there. I actually thought more of the offsetting minors they called should have been SJ only penalties to try and keep things more under control.
Phillips stood out obviously, but you could tell that just from the box score. I thought Wolf deserved one of the three stars. While it wasn't a huge number of shots, there were quite a few quality chances, including two breakaways both of which he stopped cold. He read the game well and passed when smart and froze the puck when necessary. The first wranglers goal (which was called back for goalie interference at the other end) was a direct result of him making a great save on a 2 on 1 and then making a smart, quick pass to transition to the other end. He had a couple of great glove saves as well, although SJ first goal beat him glove side with no screen. Still, I thought he had a great game.

Have to give it up to Poirier as well. He was third star tonight with 3 assists, and was so good with the puck. Had a few cringey moments, but played well at both ends of the ice. Such a good stickhandler.
I’d love to see Phillips get a shot with the big club. I know he’s not a Sutter-type player, but the team needs more skill players and Phillips brings that in spades.

There was a zone entry with a buttonhook last night from a small skilled forward that looked a bit familiar to me...
I agree with this take- we could use another top 9 winger. He was better than a PPG in the A last year, and he's nearly a goal per game pace this year. I think a call up for a few games on a road trip would be reasonable to give him a chance - could use a bit of a shakeup anyway.
Edited to add: I'd love to get a candid, not for attribution, 3-whiskeys-in take from Sutter on Phillips. He's seen him play a bunch now with the heat in Calgary.

Pretty barebones highlights but it’s got the goals!
I'm not sure how they can watch Phillips night after night and go "This guy can't help us at the NHL level"
It's not even the goals, but the play he didn't get a point on (Pelletier's goal at 2:40).
Shows great speed to create a mini odd man rush, his pass doesn't get through but he doesn't give up on the puck, get's the puck back to the point, then drives the net (while cross checking a guy in the back) and helps create the havoc that allows Pelletier to get the rebound.
Nope this team couldn't use that skill and tenacity at all.
