My thoughts exactly. These moves open up a 5 year window for the Flames to be a legit contender. The team can then go into a rebuild if the contracts don't age well.

Wouldn't surprise me if lucic is going to Boston and monahan is going to Montreal for anderson and some adds from mtl for term. Sutter clearly values toughness so they will need a guy who can fight and play long run especially with #### disturbers like kadri on the team

Flames can't take any long term salary back from here on out. Monahan & Lucic completely off the books will be eaten up by Huberdeau, Weegar & Kadri.
