They are the best in the league, after tonight.

Flames win, Oil lose, it doesn't get much better than that.

The thing is it is unlikely they get 30 shutouts this season, but it is also unlikely that Monahan, Backlund, Coleman and Dube finish the season with the point totals they are projected to get right now. Valimaki likely gets better as the season goes along.

Some guys will cool off and others heat up. Winning should be sustainable.

Has nothing to do with that. They, by any metric, have outplayed the opposition in almost every game this year. Is +30 goal differential per 20 games sustainable through the last 3/4 of the season? Of course not. Who cares. Is it likely they will lose 20 games in OT this season? Also of course not.

They won’t acknowledge it. But to be honest Sutter kind of thrives being able to have his teams play the underdog role so it might even be to our benefit.

So playing great hockey and beating good teams is now them 'laying down' for the Flames, eh?

The salt in Edmonton is just fantastic.

Did the Oiler fan really say we were unsustainable because we are only 21st in shot blocking?

The other team actually has to possess the puck before they can even take a shot for us to block.

The more I think about this trade the more I think Holland is a wizard. The Oilers give up nothing but 500k if Neal sucks and if he does then he actually can be bought out at a reasonable amount. If Neal is good they give up a 3rd round pick only if Lucic plays like his usual self. I'll happily give up a 3rd round lottery ticket if we get for at least 10 more goals than Lucic scores.

I find it funny that Lucic is looking forward to playing meaningful hockey. He did for quite a bit of the 3 seasons he spent here and he looked like a steaming turd for most of them. Take away the PP number in the first year and he's put up 3 really bad seasons in a row. Neal had 1 bad season a way better contract and doesn't handle the puck like it's a live grenade, not sure how the Oilers will ever regret this trade.
just couldn't help it...

P.S. To be fair, I did not like the trade when it was announced; but so happy to be wrong about it.

100% he is one of the best players at breakout passes, those little chips off the boards he very rarely misses.

He’s also faster than people give credit for and he actually has a very good shot. I think people forget how good he was with Boston for example and he seems like he is more that player this year than the player people want to pretend he is when he struggled in Edmonton, mainly haha

What a game. Flames looked really good for most of the game. If it wasn’t for the two mistakes we could have been looking at another doughnut.

First game I was able to get my three kids to, ever. Was awesome!!
