Would be comical though.
Owen Beck is now rated ~10th. That's unfortunate.

Didn’t Lindros refuse the GM / management of the Nordiques? I could be wrong but I think I saw him say that in an interview.

Tom Lysiak was Sutter's centre when he scored 40 goals.
The experts all liked Wickenheiser, most felt Savard was helped enormously by the high scoring Quebec junior league.
It's one case where the fans were proven correct based on results.

Lindros has also since expressed regret for how he reacted to being drafted by the Nordiques.

These are three that I would be looking into more for a late second round pick
43. Jordan Gustafson — C, Seattle Thunderbirds, 5-foot-11
53. Owen Pickering — LHD, Swift Current Broncos, 6-foot-4
62. Vinzenz Rohrer — C/RW, Ottawa 67’s, 5-foot-10

Draft coming fast - who ya want!?
I'd love Pickering here too, but as someone else mentioned think he'll be off the board.
I feel so much more confident these past number of yrs trusting I'll generally like what the Flames get done on draft day.
(minus trading a 1st & 2 x 2nds for a Hamonic-type, but little risk of that these days...)

I could see the Flames taking Lane Hutson.
He's like an Adam Fox clone in his draft year, also ranked right around that Flames second round pick.
Sounds like the Flames have eyes on him too. https://www.tsn.ca/lane-hutson-nhl-draft-1.1817611

But I also love the fact that he showed up with that info.

I will say that I doubt he is there for the Flames pick. I think he'll be gone in the early 2nd round. Too much upside to drop too far.

If he's available at our pick (very likely not), D Calle Odelius would be a great pick. He's a really good all-around player, and was 6th in D scoring for the J20. 6 feet tall, and a great skater, and transitional player. The latter part of his season was a bit disappointing though, at least offensively, as he only had 2 pts in 6 playoff games, and 3 points in 6 U18 games-but many scouts still think his floor is as a 2nd pairing guy.
Christian Kyrou, Jordan's little bro, would be a decent pick as well. He's a 5'11" defenseman who put up 60 points in 67 games for the Erie Otters-32 points ahead of the nearest D on his team. He's got a lot of work to do on his own zone play, but his offense is super dynamic.
Then there's the possibility of D Elias Salomonsson, but he's likely gone in the late first, early second.

Yeah Fox being a success means he likely goes earlier.
But man I hope he's still there at 59.
Montreal will probably take him at 26 to just really twist the knife.

He says Russians playing in Russia might be the biggest wild cards in the draft with the war in Ukraine. Some teams having separate list for Russians, some teams taking a Russian risk factor into account for their lists, some teams waiting from guidance from ownership whether to take Russians, etc.

Love seeing Bobby Margarita's list, quite a few interesting changes on his list.
Slafkovsky taking #1 is interesting, I still think MTL goes Wright.

I think if the Flames did get 2nd OA somehow, I would be fine with any of Slafkovsky, Nemec, or Cooley. And there still is that off chance that Wright could drop. I don’t see Montreal passing on Wright, but if they did he’d fall right onto Calgary’s lap.

We need another center. If we can sign Gaudeau, trade Tkachuk for the 2nd if you can, and get Cooley.

Something seems funky to me about Cooley. Can't quite put my finger on it.
If Mtl takes Slafkovski, I would kill for Wright.

Maybe it's just me, but Shane Wright seems like a D-Bag.
Hopefully he can back that up.

Not a chance I would draft a Russian at this point. Risk definitely will not be worth the reward when the next kid down the list will likely be just as good anyway.

Getting Wright would be a dream. In my uneducated opinion, I think he ends up better than Lindholm but not as good as Crosby. Top line center who's 200ft game is already baked in.

I dont know. I'd wager a ton of Russian kids want the hell out of there. Aside from the billionaires the vast majority of common folk or even well off folk is way too turbulent.
Guess we will see.

Yea I'm getting weird vibes from Cooley.
I feel his ceiling is a lot lower than everyone hopes.
With that said, I'd take Slaf or Wright for sure.
Either way I see no way we get the 2nd O/A pick in any trade scenario, but fun to think about.
