When you see a head in front of your knee appear that suddenly, I seriously doubt your natural reflex is to just power through the thing. Perry didn't have time to contemplate or pre-meditate anything.
Paul Byron with the 3rd period shorthanded breakaway game winner? Yeah, needless to say, I’m still pretty sour about losing him. At least we got to keep Brandon Bollig and Mason Raymond for another year before he was bought out.

This is why I'm glad Montreal made it in over the Flames. Their regular season was just as bad as ours, but unlike Calgary they can actually step it up in the playoffs. This is much more entertaining to watch than the Flames laying down for the leafs would have been
The Flames played the Maple Leafs pretty well this season though. Both the Flames and the Leafs struggled in the playoffs, so it could’ve been anyone’s game. I would’ve given the Flames a 50/50 chance to beat the top seeded Toronto which is pretty good all things considered.

This.
Different story against another team but the Flames never played the Leafs scared and both have poor playoff reputations.
Really it comes down to Carey Price though. 10 million dollar man because he can steal series. The team in front would be nothing without him.
Huh? Looked fairly innocent until he passed out. No blood nothing. I think we all see worse injuries nightly. It’s unfortunate but it was hardly a crazy looking injury.
It was the passing out that got me. You could tell he was out cold. How I feel is subjective though, so your view may be different.

Well could have had him this year if we wanted, he was on waivers.

We didn’t have the cap space to even attempt to absorb that contract of his. But a Paul Byron is what this team could’ve used in the bottom 6 for last 5 years. Speed, hard on pucks, difficult to play against, relentlessness on the forecheck, backcheck, game breaking ability.
He obviously never would’ve slotted in the top 6 for us, so his contract would’ve been a lot more reasonable than it is today. But he’s the prototypical 4th liner for me. A guy who plays the game hard, no ego, low maintenance and can use his speed to break a game open in tight games.
What an awful division. We really picked the worst year to suck.
Its funny because I said before the season started that there were going to be a lot of teams with a very low GAF level and if we competed hard the opportunity was there for the taking.
Narrator: "They didnt."
And now its Garbage Bag Day for the Flames and you hear quotes from players saying things like:
"We thought it was going to be easier than it was." - Lindholm
"When you play for individual achievements this is what happens." - Lucic
This team thought this season was going to be a cakewalk and then had no response when things got hard. The North Division is probably the easiest, crappiest Division in the NHL since the old South Eastern division when all of those teams sucked.
I cant even fathom going into a season with this attitude and mindset. It blows me away. These are supposed to be 'Professional' Athletes.
So I hope they have fun watching the playoffs on TV and wondering if their name is going to be one thats shipped out of town.
You're right. They picked a crappy year to jam the 'suck dial' at 11.

Key point, the medical staff was not trying to get him to sit up. He was actively trying to sit up on his own but was too confused to stay down and cooperate with the medical staff, so they did the best they could to stabilize his neck as he tried to get up. Great job by the Leafs medical staff in what is a very challenging situation when an athlete is confused and not cooperating after an injury like this.

Also find it funny people saying it is classless to make COREY PERRY fight.
Poor Corey Perry! Big bad Foligno made him fight!
Corey Perry is trash and the players know it. If it was a player with some class they would have let it go. I'm sure amongst NHL players Corey Perry has a reputation. They know what he's like.
In the end I just hope it is nothing serious for Tavares.
Thats a hot take. He didn't see it till the last second, because of an odd fall that happened in front of him. He tried to jump out of the way. At game speed thats a really really fast play to intentionally think up.
No, in the sense that the poster said it looked routine. Obviously Perry didn't intend to do that.

If it's warranted, sure. This time it was not, asking him to fight after something that was clear to everybody was unintentional is stupid, Corey Perry or no Corey Perry.

This was a complete accident, Perry felt like crap and "answered the bell" without even defending himself out of traditional duty even though he had no intent. I hate Perry but but he is innocent here and he raised his stock by participating in that pathetic fight where he didn't throw a punch.
