Either some of you guys are really bad at this or I'm just easily intrigued because I'd still watch a solid 60% of these movies.

I was kind of thinking that no matter how boring you make it sound some of them still sound awesome, or like porn.

I think it's like deadpan. The delivery suddenly makes it more interesting and funnier than it's supposed to be. The keywords just straight up pique your interest no matter how you try to make it boring.

My attempts to attempt to strip down even the keywords...

Man spends time with Tyler. Man tells everyone else not to tell anyone else about what they do with Tyler.
Spoiler!

Cooper leaves family to improve chances of survival. Takes over 100 years to return to family.
Spoiler!

Successful Bruce decides to retire to spend time with Rachel. He screws it up and accepts job as a pariah.
Spoiler!

Father fish follows foolish fish far from familiar facilities
Spoiler!

Prisoner spends 19 years working towards a crappy escape.
Spoiler!

Hogarth teaches mechanical object "You are who you choose to be". Superman.

Father exaggerates the story of his life to his son, then dies.

For Interstellar I would go with:
Farmer takes a remote job away from his family, his commute takes longer than expected

And for Fight Club:
Man spends time with Tyler, who doesn't like banks

One of my favourite movies of recent:
Jeweller places a bet on a basketball game, which he watches at his store

I'm finding that rather than using generic nouns, using the name adds a layer of boring.

For your interstellar for instance:

Cooper takes a remote job away from his family, his commute takes longer than expected.

Idk about you, but to me it seems more drole to say Cooper than farmer?

Fight Club:
Narrator spends time with Tyler, who doesn't like banks.

Thoughts?

That also works, especially with terribly boring names like "Narrator"
