This is entirely baseless.
But I guess we are moving into the character assassination part of the process where we go beyond evaluating the work, and start to also attack the GM as a person.

Haven't you heard? Other GMs don't like working with him. He rubs them the wrong way!

Doesn't really have a plan or clue how to move forward.
Hoping he proves me wrong but I doubt it.
|
One of the two of you is sulking...and it's not Brad Treliving.
Patience is the best plan here.
Knee jerk reactions are when you end up trading Dion Phaneuf for Matt Stajan and Friends, and Olli Jokinen & Prust for Ales Kotalik and Higgins.
Ideally Treliving would be selling UFA dmen to gain assets to use at the draft (whether in deals or as picks) but 3 injuries in our planned top 6 have kind of limited that.
His best bet is to not move assets to try and get this team any further either. Since last playoffs Gaudreau/Monahan have not shown anything that indicates we should be going all in, so smart to not try to buy.
If the draft comes and goes and we have the same roster then I agree it's time to look at the GM. But until then patience is the key here.

The only deal so far I would have liked BT to be in on was the Trochek one. But perhaps the Flames didn't have prospects similar to what the Canes offered. Or the Panthers asked for guys the Flames wouldn't move.
From a straight value POV that one seems like a missed opportunity.
The rest of the deals today though? Meh.

I make it a point to never venture as far into the suburbs as Cranston. Rumour has it that once you go there, you'll never make it back to the inner city.

So far I'm happy enough.
I never wanted to spend assets on a rental.
I wanted to move one of our two UFA dmen but injuries have made that pretty difficult.
I want to add another forward with term ie Palmieri but deadline day isn't always the best time to do that.
If we go past the draft with no moves I'll be annoyed but if we stand pat today, it's whatever

Agreed, I usually unfollow him on Twitter about a week before the deadline every year

In other years people were not as down on the Flames as they are now. This year, people are very frustrated with the team, and the trade deadline is just a microcosom of that. Additionally I think that a lot of people beleive that a single player can turn a seasona round. Also, has per usual, the people who are the most upset are the loudest, most people who are neutral satisfied don't have as much to say.

That part is pretty funny, as it seems like lots of GMs want to work with the Flames. The problem is that they also want the Flames to give up valuable assets like Kylington, Bennett, Valimaki, Andersson, 1st round picks, etc....
GMs are in a business where they need to maximize their returns on all assets. The future of franchises worth 100s of millions of dollars depends on it. GMs will put business first.
You'd also be surprised how many of these guys are complete A-holes. At any high level of management like this, particularly in sports, you are going to end up with a distilled group of people who rub other people the wrong way habitually. That's kind of how you get ahead in these environments.
Back on topic. Any GM paying big money for FAs is making a massive mistake this season. The only good target was Hall. Arizona overpaid for him and still might miss the playoffs. He will definitely test the UFA market.

Agree. It hurts because Trochek would have, I think, been a really good fit on the second line.
