What I find hilarious is that if Kassian didn't go full-neanderthal and horse collar then sucker punch a player with his back turned, with the subsequent penalties and likely suspension, nobody would have given the Tkachuk hits a second thought. They probably would've been shown in some highlight reels.

But because Kassian is an idiotic goon then suddenly Tkachuk hits are described as if they were some of the dirtiest hits seen in decades, especially by Coilers fans.

Its baffling.

Haggarty is all of the worst aspects of Edmonton and Toronto writers rolled into one guy. He is also exceptionally poor at taking criticism. Which makes him the literary parallel of Zack Kassian, so birds of a feather and all that.

He's been suspended multiple times and all for over the top hits and intents to injure.

He's not a warrior, he's certainly not an honest player. If he was honest he'd look in the mirror and realize that he's a scumbag.

Next game if he plays, he'll do his typical tough guy glower at the Flames bench and then pee his pants and whine to the bench when a guy like Lucic or Rinaldo says, yeah, man its time to beat your face in.

Oiler fans love a guy that took an amazing 8 game suspension for a really dirty shot on Gagner that broke his face, I'm sure Gagner loves looking across the room at him.

The league needs to bring the hammer down on him, he's trash, he's badly over rated, and he's a dangerous player.

Give him 10 games or more for assault.

And if he plays the next game in the pre game warmup Lucic should tell him, if he even looks at MT, that McDavid will be leaving the game with a busted wrist.
I dont know about you, but I disagree vehemently.

This is a guy thats re-invented his game to be an effective, if not pseudo-elite 1st line winger.

Zack Attack's size and grit and unquestionable valour under daunting circumstances are an integral part of why McDavid is the Elite All-Around Greatest Player of All Time that he is.

And this is a contract year for Kassian and he is using this opportunity to showcase how indispensable he is to the Edmonton's Oilers on their inevitable march to the Cup. Or multiple cups.

What he showed last night is Captain material and an example of why he not only deserves a $7 Million x 7 Year deal, but that its absolutely critical that the Oilers pull out all of the stops to ensure nothing gets in the way of keeping Zacharius Kassian III Esq. within their ranks and on the frontlines of their charge to glory.

Kassian’s post game interview was hilarious, it’s like he was vibrating and trying to swallow everything up so he didn’t cry

Seriously though, switch Tkachuk for McDavid, if connor actually displayed the balls to hit a player that hard.

There is no way in hell the narrative would be the same.

The optics are bent simply because Tkachuk irritates outside fans by how good he plays the game and the games within the game. Its bias over reason at this point.

Thank god the league sees through this haze of stupidity.

I think the media is bending over backwards because that the nhl poster child is on an embarrassment of a team and they want to stay in their good graces. Lowe and company are exactly the type that would keep a score board of who wasn't on board. Media need and want access to the golden child so they toe the line.

I wouldn't be surprised Lowe would do that, remember Leah Hextall? She was the first one openly criticized the Oilers for having multiple first overall picks and still being bad. Next thing you know, she was fired!

Given the Oiler response and that guy from Boston response guy, am I just super blind to him? I get it, I see the pest side to him, I see how people hate him as an antagonist. But what am I missing on the “dirty” player side? What’s the list of dirty plays he’s made? I’m sure the list is likely longer than what I’ve got below, so what am I missing cause here’s what I have:

1. Elbow on Doughty
2.?
3.?
4.?
Etc....

Doesn’t seem to me he’s a player with a consistent behaviour of dirty plays.

Yes, exactly, including a full NMC for the entire contract!

Her take was beautifully said and delivered though.

I hope that to this day she feels it was completely worth speaking the truth.

They're such a butthurt franchise it wouldnt surprise me if they somehow were policing SNET and their takes on the Oilers. Especially after that whole online forum fiasco.

Body/hip checking is now considered dirty by some.

I'm not even joking.

Its the sanitization of the game in full stride.

I totally forgot about that! We should never forget about that.

That was hilarious!

He was pretty dirty for a bit, he would get elbowing penalties, and there were the slewfoots on Davidson and Marincin. But he's really cleaned up his act. I don't think he even dives that much anymore.

He basically Bertuzzied Brendan Lemieux in a Penticton rookie tournament game once but I think the list stops after those two.

He had the line crossed on him more often than he’s crossed it.

They got busted hiring a firm to go to a bunch of forums and pump the organizations tires.

Which is why it’s not hard to imagine that the Oilers wine and dine the media for tire pumping purposes.

It’s a very Edmonton thing to do. An inferiority complex leading them to crave adulation.

No, but there was that time Messier sucker-punched Macoun between whistles when they were going off the ice and Macoun was literally looking the other way. Broke his jaw and put him out for 15 games. Don’t think Messier even got a penalty.

Different times.
