Sorry, admittedly I'm not a very knowledgeable linguist. I only know English, dutch an some german. I assumed Zuccarello was Swedish to bit it makes sense with the countries neighboring each outher they both understand one another. Which is why I understand the languages I do

Okay, that’s pretty awesome.

Much appreciated.

I always laugh at the “didn’t deserve to win” comments. They absolutely deserved to win because they scored more goals than the Wild. Was the goaltender a big part of it? Absolutely but the goalie is a part of the team too.

If Minnesota deserved to win they would have scored 3 goals instead of 1, but they didn’t and thus deserve exactly what they got.
Oil fans are the last people that should be talking about getting things they don't deserve.

His weakness was playing for the oilers until they almost sucked the life out of him. He's feeling much better now.

Flames have four games until the all-star break:

vs. Edmonton Jan 11
@ Montreal Jan 13
@ Toronto Jan 16
@ Ottawa Jan 18

Imagine how good it would feel to go into the all-star break on an eight-game winning streak and a 28-17-5 record. I think it's definitely doable.

At the all-star break last season, the Flames boasted a 33-13-5 record, but 28-17-5 isn't too far off.

5-8 points in the next 4 games would be nice. Hoping to get a win against Edmonton.

I can’t tell. I would guess it’s Swedish based on what I can hear and based on who was talking.

Zuccarello is Norwegian but played in the SEL, so I imagine his Swedish isn’t too bad. Knowing the Swedes (as I do...) I would not expect Andersson to understand Norwegian at all on the other hand.... but you never know.

Despite their shared roots, the Scandinavian languages are not as mutually intelligible as you might think. I’m a native Icelandic speaker but I basically don’t understand Norwegian, Swedish or Danish at all (even though my dad is half Swedish and I’ve heard that language a lot). I can almost sort of understand Faroese... but not THAT well. Like maybe enough to get directions to the local fishmonger or whatever but not to carry on a real conversation.

But “BOOM” means the same thing in all of those languages. Though in Icelandic we spell it “BÚM”....

A Swedish speaker on Reddit translated the following:

Quote:
Andersson tells Zuccarello to 'håll huvet högt' which means keep your head up, can't really hear what he says after that and then Zuccarello responds 'vad har det med saken att göra?' what does that have to do with anything?

Hm, in that case, I have decided on a verdict:

Andersson - BOOM
Zuccarello - BÚM

These personal insults from grown men are almost disappointing.

But honestly, it's more a compliment to me than anything that he and whoever else may think I'm lying

Swedish, danish and Norwegian are pretty much different accents of the same language (I am Swedish, part danish). Icelandic sticks out, same language group but very different (more like the old, old Norse languages). Finnish, completely different language family and is related to Hungarian for example.

Point is, Andersson and Zuch would understand each other easily.

I have family members in Norway. The standard joke is Norwegian is Danish spoken with a Swedish accent.
