I think some of the hate Gio gets in the ATL is from Oiler fans for him making a hockey play and getting McJesus hurt. Some still feel like he meant to hurt him or something silly.

He's a good player and a great guy, I wouldn't take any of the hate seriously.

sorry I can't link Twitter at work but Haynes posted these stats for BSD sionce Christmas:

first period save % in 4 Appearances = .750 (10 goals on 40 shots)
second and third combined save % (and second period last night) = .980 (1 goal allowed on 49 shots)

A leader in every sense of the word. Just baffling that anyone could hate Gio.
I imagine Ducks, Wild, and Oilers fans may have issue with some of their players being injured by Gio. I don't think Gio is dirty or has ever intended to injure anyone but he has been involved in a few of the knee to knee incidents. There is something about Edmonton fans whether they be Oilers or Eskimos but their hate for the Calgary teams is of the more primitive knuckle dragging variety.

Probably the most fun I've had watching a Wild game in a looooong while.

Rittich was great after looking a bit shaky out there, but great to see an in-game adjustment like that. Another coach with a lot of trust in Ryan again too - and he delivers. Seeing a lot of where he left off last year coming back which is great. Such a quiet and reliable weapon when we need him to be.

Early PPs were pretty tough to watch, but once the Wild lost a bit of confidence they were able to actually push possession! Those first couple PPs though shouldn't have happened - they were reeeeeal bad. Great tape to watch though and with a W anyways.

Good to see we're on the winning side of this kind of game though, and they played with confidence through the game that was great to watch again. They never really felt out of it, and you could feel that someone in the lineup was going to get it going

Hamonic though, my goodness what a game.

His firsts have really put the team behind the eight ball. Credit for him battling back after the firsts. That being said, lets get that first period SV% to NHL caliber.

That stat also highlights that we're giving up almost as many shots in the first as the other two periods combined.

I actually thought the Flames played better in the first than the second, just weren’t rewarded a couple times because of unlucky bounces, plus Rittich wasn’t sharp. Didn’t they outshoot the Wild ion the first but not the second?

My take, which i think I posted before, is that the Wild played up to their potential and the Flames didn’t, and the Flames still won.

Man, that Dube backhand was just filthy. A thing of total beauty.

Wow, I see it.

If we make the playoffs his nickname should be the Punisher

I’m fine with easing Dube into the lineup like they are doing, and there’s all kinds of benefits playing with good pros like Ryan and Lucic. But that kid is going to be a top six player. I dare say if he had been thrown up there for a while he’d have double the points.

Dube's goal is just near impossible to save. You can tell that Stalock bites that Dube has the puck on the backhand simply to try to pull it wide to a forehand. The release is impossible to anticipate and is unlikely. As the goalie you cheat to slide to the post to cover the wide pull. Just a shot of beauty!

For the most part that is correct. They have been the worst organization in the NHL for over a decade to there is plenty of ammunition for us to make fun of them in dedicated thread here and I've not ever seen posters here wishing for Oilers players to be injured or have their careers ended. I have seen that at HF Oilers when it comes to Gaudreau.
