Me too...I mean, he looked so awkward in that stick swinging incident....like it simply was not in his character to behave like that at all.

My speculation:
Geoff Ward will be named official Head Coach going forward. The Flames not only are working on the terms of Peters termination, but updating Ward's contract as well. Hence the delay.
Ward has the bonafides to be a NHL Head Coach.

Is this legit or opinion/speculation? I think I'm pretty okay with it, if it's true.

Yeah I might be wrong about him. It was only a couple seasons ago, but I'm struggling to remember anything about the guy other than the stick swinging and constantly getting out-coached.
Honestly though, every time I try to picture him, I just see Gilbert's redheaded perfect-hair evil sneer. It's very possible that's clouding my memory of Gulutzan.

They should name Geoff Ward intern coach for rest of the season, then either hire him full time or hire someone else in the offseason

I think that's the first option.
I can see them covering their rears by double/triple vetting Ward and the other assistants' pasts as well, because there's no way they want history to repeat.

Loubo on the Sportnet960 saying Ward was originally interviewed for the Head Coach job that went to Gulutzan.

Gully might have been successful as a players coach, if he wasn't so stunned at managing the game in real time. I feel like the players quit on him after seeing the same stuff we complained about in every game thread.

I think he would've been just as successful as peters last season if given the same talent level on the roster.

The offseason roster moves definitely helped Peters get off to a good start. Still think Gully sunk himself with the Brouwerplay and other head scratchers.
