That's not at all a bad thing. Kyllington is a second round pick. If he turns out to hold down a regular shift in the top four that is found money.

Then traded with Jankowski for a Kadri like 2nd line center? I’ll take that.

What is up with Rittich's glove hand? Quite a few pucks seem to hit it flush in the pocket and just pop out.

I suppose a 1-1-1 record is alright at this point considering the uninspired play from this team to start the season. It'll hopefully do the team some good to get out on the road for a bit and gather some focus, because so far they aren't exactly impressing anyone. I do think it's a bit of a good sign that this is a team that slumps their way to a 1-1-1 record, when they could just as easily be 0-3, and I look forward to them cranking up the intensity over the upcoming weeks.

Am I nuts or is the “easily could be 0-3” (which has been suggested multiple times, not trying to single anyone out) a bit of an overreaction? I thought they absolutely deserved to win the Vancouver game. Rittich was solid but I don’t think he stole that one. Vancouver looked lifeless.
The Avs game and tonight have one thing in common: awful starts. If they can start a game on time they’ll be fine. Their record is exactly what it should be. Lazy starts cost them a point against an awful team and two points against a really good team.

Well, we were only a minute away from being 1-2-0 in this game. Sure the team deserved to win the game in Vancouver, but outside of a couple of stretches of good play, that win was not all that convincing. That game was technically up for grabs until the EN goal sealed the deal, despite Vancouver playing like crap. It doesn't really matter though, I'm happy it's a 1-1-1 record despite the team playing pretty poor hockey so far.

Well, that was...what it was.
It'd be really nice if the Flames showed up to play the first 20 minutes

That was the type of game that can get a team rolling. Have such a miserable effort in the first, but then come out and fight your way back getting progressively better as the game wears on, scoring with the goalie pulled. Had all the earmarks of a redemption game where a team starts to believe in itself... then Sam Bennett.
Agree with the comments on Jankowski. Guy is playing like he he doesn't care about being here, probably because the team made it known that he was moved during the summer in a trade that was killed by a NTC. Time for Treliving to earn his money and get a deal done. You could move all of Jankowski, Bennett, and Frolik and likely improve the team just with their absence. Those three players should recoup a decent forward. Kick in Brodie and you could like get a good forward and a defenseman in return. Make it so Tre.

There's just something about the Flames in October. Last season was one of their better Octobers but for whatever reason they are never one of those teams that comes out of the gates flying.

I wouldn't trade Bennett. I don't see a top 6 forward in him, but i think he is a good 3rd line player with jam. That said I'm not sure of a 3rd line of Lucic ,Ryan and bennett. 2 guys that really have no goal scoring capabilities with a center that can somewhat pass. I agree about Janko.
I will say Magiapane looked far better than Bennett or Frolik on the 2nd line.

You figure with not really much of a roster turnover, and same coach, that they shouldn't have any adjustment periods, and can come out the gates flying.
Granted, the month is still young. Loss against Avalanche was against one of the best in the west, and Canucks game was solid overall. This was their first real stinker.
At least the second line played well. Eat Bread up with Tkachuk and Backlund could work for now.
Disappointing though that Bennett doesn't look like he's fit to be a top 6 player. Would really make a difference with the team depth if he could consistently bring his A game, rather than killing plays, and making boneheaded penalties frequently. It's really up to him at this point in what type of player he wants to be. Coaching isn't going to be what holds him back at this point.

Was at the game last night
Not sure I have ever seen them play a worse 1st period.... yikes...
1st period was like a division 1 playing a division 3
One of the few highlights was the 2nd line juggling,
After Mangiapane was moved to the 2nd line, this made a huge difference.
However the Flames were lucky the Kings allowed them to come back and steal a point...
Flames goalie was great in the 1st period....

In the end I suppose it's better to start a bit slow and build the team up to full speed as the season chugs along than to come out seemingly strong for the first month and then completely nosedive like some other teams we know.

The game provided good entertainment value. The two guys stirring up drama were the stars of the show. Chucky's goal to tie the game was from another world.
Can't ask for much more than that when watching a regular season hockey game.

I would give Mangiapane a few games on the second line to see if sticks. At least he probably won't take bad minors. I think he might be the Flames 6th best forward

It looks like you had a stroke mid sentence and then completed it like nothing happened.

I didn't watch the game, so I can't comment specifically, but it seems like Bennett never gets an extended chance to play with better linemates. One (bad from what I've read here) game and everyone wants to bench him; he needs 10-15 games playing on that second line to prove whether he's capable of being there. It's not even to do him some favor; it's more for the team to really know what we have in him.
An extended period, and he continues to make dumb plays and take unnecessary penalties, and it'll be clear.
Just imo of course.

Bennett seems to play noticeably worse when he moves up (of late) and I wonder if he just puts too much pressure on himself to produce.
The one man army approach doesn't seem to show itself when he's on the 3L or 4L.
I get why he doesn't see extended time in the top 6. They can't afford it due to the water they take on when he's there.

Not when there is another young player on the roster who has seized his own few opportunities on the second line and looked great. The team cannot afford 10 games to run an experiment like this. The NHL is a “show me” League.
