I'd be OK if we were just losing the series in another close game but the last 2 games have me thinking the Glames aren't interested/built for any additionalmgames this season

Last thought for the night....win game 4 and bring it back to Calgary.
You have to have hope right, otherwise what’s the point?

I'd personally sit Brodie and Oscar. Bring in Valimaki and Kylington. Yes, they're rookies, who cares.
I'd sit Neal and bring in Czarnik.
And yes, I know none of this will happen. Just a dream.

Flames got bent over tonight and seemed to enjoy it. They sure didn’t do anything to try and stop it (except for Bennett). I just don’t see any comeback at all, we’re not built for playoffs and unfortunately this completely erases a great regular season. Cue the subdued clapping next year when they raid a meaningless banner.
Had to laugh at posters back in game 1 who said Mackinnon would get tired out. If anything he got stronger. He carried his team in his back and they caught his energy and leadership and raised their game to a level we can’t even come close to. Meanwhile we took them way too lightly, did not appear to have a game plan to stop them and didn’t have any “leaders” step up to show some kind of push back.

The refs were brutal, agreed. But the Flames have been the better team for a 10 minute stretch in game 1 of the 2nd period. The other 9 periods its been Avs.
If it weren't for Smith playing out of this world in game 1, the Flames effort would have them down 0-3. That is more of a concern than any 2 minute penalty call.

They’re definitely still in it. And I do still think they’ll win this series, but the play of the first line is cause for concern. We’ll see I guess.

We didn't lose because of the refs. We took some stupid penalties. We were out skated, out worked and positionally disgusting. We spend too much time looking for a pass instead of a shot and crashing the net. Pay attention to the line changes. We nonchalantly make our way to the bench. We're lazy. MacKinnon is a bull with speed. Oh, to have someone like him.

It seems very likely Neal or Janko sits.
But only one of those guys has 4 years left so...

If monahan or gaudreau in the post game simply go back to “we have to be better” can some competent journalist call them to task on it and say what everyone is thinking. “You guys have not elevated your play and have not been driving anything positive for your team as a top line. What exactly are you going to do to be better?”
Monahan is a dud when games get like this. He can’t check and just completely disappears.

I think as a fan you are justified in being livid that the refs changed the momentum of the game with a phantom 5 on 3 followed by another phantom penalty, while ALSO being livid that the team shriveled up and died the second they faced adversity.

Lol MacKinnon was sipping on a latte on the bench with his feet up for the third period.

Disappointed I keep hearing about the 5 on 3 from the players and coach. That was the first goal in the first period. There was a garbage game after that.

Flames are giving Mackinnon too much respect. He needs to be abused every shift.

Is anyone else wondering why the team with the LEAST amount of hits in the league during the regular season (and finished 1st in the western conference) is trying to physically intimidate/dominate a bigger/ less balanced team in Colorado? I think Peters lost the plot in his playoff strategy and the Flames need to get back to jumping on turnovers, moving the puck up ice, and activating D in the rush. Embrace the ‘new’ NHL and leave ‘heavy hockey’ to teams built for it.

Czar has always come out flying after being sat, could really bode well for them. Especially with his speed.

How many of those 56 shots did Mackinnon have by himself?
Looked it up and it was 5, but easily felt 3x that

Want to see some desperation in game 4. Akin to what the Avs did in game 2. They wanted that game, gave everything they had to get that game. That's playoff hockey. Flames haven't had desperation in their game in months. Time to dig deep into the guts and find it
This team is stuck in 2nd gear. Come out flat Wednesday and I'll say it, the series is done. Right now the Avs simply just want it more.

Good god, is that what they are saying? Just clueless if that is the case. What about the next 5 goals and 55 shots? All go back to the original 5 on 3?

I see no f'n reason Brodie should still be in this series. None. Id wager he doesnt see game 4.
