Hoping Dallas wins tonight. That would seal a Flames/Avalanche playoff series.

Calgary has never faced Colorado in the playoffs despite sharing a division with them for over a decade. Should be really interesting.

I lived in Denver for 4 years in the late 90's early 00's when they won the cup. I was always a Flames fan, but the Flames were terrible at the time so I got on the Aves bandwagon in the playoffs those years, since Calgary was never in. Its the only other team I have ever cheered for.

With that said, I hope we play the Avalanche and absolutely destroy them, no mercy.

"Nightmare" is a little strong.

Colorado is the only team in the playoffs who have less than 40 ROWs. They have 36. (Flames have 50)

And among the playoff teams, they are 15th in differential at +17. Only Dallas is lower at +5. (Flames are +64)

I lived there at the exact same time and always resented that Denver just inherited a SC winning team. I went to several games and always found myself rooting against them. And I hated Claude Lemieux.

It was much harder to follow your team from a distance at that time too.

Watching Dallas get dummied by the Hawks and I'm not overly convinced the Flames cant do the same, in the same fashion they would the Avs

Yes, I was a little jealous that some of the friends I made down there became instant hockey fans and had an instant Stanley cup winner. But I must have gotten over it at some point. I remember going to a game in the then new Pepsi Can when the Flames came to town. We had Grant Fuhr in net and lost 8-1. It really sucked.

I could get on the side of Joe Sakic, Forsberg, and Rene Bourque. Lots of great players on that team, although Roy was a dick. There was a Bar called the WashPark that you could run into Forsberg fairly often.

*sigh*

No one “wants” to play the best team in the Conference in the opening round.

Both Colorado and Dallas are top heavy. I think we can beat either. The only reason I prefer Colorado is Bishop. If he's on his game it will make for a tough series.

Is Bishop healthy right now? Is Rantannan healthy for Av's?

I know Dallas just got back Zucarello. I think he could be a big add for that team.

Particularly when you have no idea which team you are ducking away from in the other division.
