Listenings to CHED and they're definitely at the 4th stage of grief, Depression, Reflection and Loneliness. The tone is moribund. Callers complaining about penalty calls are being somberly brushed off. Just sadness all around.

I love it.

So unlucky, those Oilers.
As everyone knows, elite sport is nothing more than a random number machine -- you know, like the kind that gives you first over all picks...

the one guy, Brown? seems pretty level headed though... shut down the "blame the ref" caller right away... he was a former NHL'er so he's calling it what it is...

Zero breathing room for the conference too with the Jets and Predators hanging around.

https://scores.nbcsports.com/nhl/sco...p?day=20190108

The Wild missed a chance at taking a better hold on 8th place as they lost 4-0 to the Bruins. Bergeron and Marchand each had 3 points and Rask gets the SHUTOUT with 24 saves. It was 3-0 Bruins after the 1st period. The Wild PK was 0-2 and their PP 0-3.

The Stars win 3-1 over the Blues. Seguin had 3 points and the Stars are now 5 points clear of the 9th place Ducks.

The eastern conf. is very tight as 6 points separates 2nd to 9th place. The Bruins win puts them 4 points up on the 9th place Islanders.

The Islanders have been playing well but, it was the Hurricanes that were victorious, 4-3 in reg time. The Hurricanes scored 2 goals late in the 3rd period to take a 4-2 lead. The Isles didn't give up with Nelson scoring with a minute to go to make it close, he had 3 points in the loss.

The Lightning strike back after their first loss in a month, they beat the BJs 4-0. Vasilevskiy with the 31 save SHUTOUT and Brayden Point had 3 points, (2g 1a). Tampa Bay is running away with the eastern conf. as they have a 12 point lead over the 2nd place Capitals.

The Capitals squeak out a 5-3 win over the Flyers. Vrana and Oshie each had 2 goals. The Flyers were down 4-1 with less than 4 minutes left in the game. They got 2 goals late, but came up short. Copley was in net for the Caps and faced 40 shots.

The Habs 3-2 reg win over Detroit puts them in 8th place. Niemi was in net for the Habs and it was the Habs PK that helped them win, it was 4/5.

The Sabres won 5-1 with all their goals scored in the 2nd period! The Devils had a 1-0 after the 1st period and that was it. Perfect PK by the Sabres going 4 for 4.

The Penguins remain hot as they beat the Panthers 5-1. Loserongo was pulled after 4 goals on 16 shots while Matt Murray faced 37 Florida shots. The Pens scored 2 consecutive SHGs in the 2nd period, both teams were 0-4 on the PP, in other words it was great PK.
