Kevin Bieksa's interview on After Hours has been absolutely hilarious. Dude seems like a riot.

When it was over, head coach Ken Hitchcock unloaded on a team that didn’t even bother to engage.

“We had one player show up and play, Darnell Nurse,” he said. “He was our best player by a mile, he was one of our most competitive players on the ice and that’s all we had.

“We didn’t compete. (LA’s) best players were their best players and we didn’t compete. This is on everybody. Everybody. When you have one player who competes at a high level in a game like this it can’t be acceptable. There’s been too much of this go on in the first 41 games.

“We win one, and then we take our foot off the gas. And that’s what we did. This is what happens when you don’t show up.”

Quote:
I think you are what you are and what has to change for us is we’re a situation motivated team,” said Hitchcock, adding they only dig in when they’re shamed into it. “It has to come from in the locker room. So you or I or anybody else can bark and bitch and scream and yell all we want, but it has to come from inside the locker room.

“I’ve only been here for 21 games and I can see the situation motivates us. We lose, we get embarrassed, we get motivated. That isn’t a playoff team, that isn’t a playoff attitude, and we have to change. This can’t be acceptable.”

Is this a character flaw in the team?

“I don’t know what it is,” said Hitchcock, exiting the media scrum. “We’ll figure it out. I’ve said enough. I’ll get myself in further trouble, but this is not acceptable.”

Can you really see any team picking up Bieksa? He says he is being picky and wants to play a role and assumably not on popcorn row.

Maybe the Nikko Ice Bucks could use him.

Ah, all's well with the Canucks and Oilers both losing on HNIC. Quick with the 16 save SHUTOUT in the Kings 4-0 win. That's gotta be one of the easier shutouts in his career. Hutchinson with the 28 save SHUTOUT in the Leafs 5-0 victory. Matthews had 3 points. Okay, take a shower now after cheering on the Leafs.

Evander Kane scored 2 goals and now has 200 career goals. Burns with 3 points as the Sharks chomped the Lightning 5-2 to end their amazing point streak. The Sharks are in a 5 way battle which separated by 4 points for 1st in the western conf.

The Predators win 4-1 over the Habs in another Subban-Weber showdown. Weber scored the Habs only goal, Subban with 2 assists and Smith scored 2 goals. The Predators are also in the thick of the 5 way battle.

The Wild's 4-3 reg win puts them just 2 points back of the 8th place Ducks. Parise with 3 points and Spurgeon with 2 goals for the Wild. Nice moment after the game, Dubnyk autographed his stick and gave it to a kid who is a Dubnyk fan and was overwhelmed.

The Islanders and BJs both win and that puts them in playoff spots ahead of the now 9th place Habs.

The Islanders only had 14 shots on goal and hung on to win 4-3 in reg time. Lehner faced 32 shots for the win.

The BJs won in OT with Seth Jones scoring early in the extra session.

The Bruins won in reg time over the Sabres. Rask was just over 2 minutes away from the shutout when Ritolainen scored to make it close.
