Also with the 3rd of his 4, Gaudreau passed Gary Suter (345) for the 6th most career points in Calgary #Flames history (1980-) before a player's 26th birthday (347. Most: 462- Theo Fleury)
Christ, I wonder how hot the magic man was down the stretch in 81 if he did not hold the record for points at the 41 game mark? Johnny is a special player, a true superstar

Just out of curiosity...was there any merit to the penalty shot call? I only caught it once, but it sure as hell looked like a perfectly fine play by Kylington.
Anyhow, great to see the W. GFG.

It is incomprehensible to me that players in this league could have more points than Gaudreau. I know it’s not many, but how?

Kylington actually played that breakaway beautifully, he ties up Athanasiou's stick enough to disrupt the shot. Can't believe they called a penalty shot.

Nope, completely clean by Kylington. Clean stick check.

It was totally clean. Really bad call.

The 17 points in 4 game stretch was preceded by a 3 point game too, so that was actually 20 points in 5 games (including back-to-back hat tricks).

Oddly enough, his first 4 point game that season was exactly 38 years ago tonight, January 2, 1981. He ended the season with 10 games with at least 4 points.

The ref called a penalty shot because they are the Wings!

In game 41, Lindholm sets a career high for points. He now has 47, previous career high is 45.

Don't see how he could have played it any better.

Only Johnny knows the secret recipe for Skittles-flavoured Gatorade.

I had a debate with a ref once on a similar call (penalty, not penalty shot) who insisted it’s a penalty as soon as you turn your blade to catch the stick.

I don’t know if that’s the correct interpretation of the rule or not, but I wonder if that was the call on Kylington

I’m skimming the rule book here looking for exactly that. Nothing.

I thought maaaybe the ref thought he slashed his stick (doesn’t have to break), but the call was hooking. Brutal.

Edit:
Quote:
Rule 55 – Hooking

55.1 Hooking - Hooking is the act of using the stick in a manner that
enables a player to restrain an opponent.
When a player is checking another in such a way that there is only stick-to-stick contact, such action is not to be penalized as hooking.
