Wow. What has been your favourite invention in your lifetime, or at least since the radio?

Driving to the dome tonight and listening to Lubo continue to question Rittich’s ability to keep it going while simultaneously stroking off Mike Smith really grinds my gears.

Darn rights they should be...
This is Dallas’s 7 game in 11 nights.
6 of those 7 games have been back to back and on the road.
This is the backend of the third pair of back to backs.
Dallas is 0-4-0 on the backend this season.
Nothing less than 2 points should be acceptable.

Rittich has been great. But he was great too in his limited starts last season. Then the wheels came off when he got a run of games. I think it is more than fair to have a hang up on Rittich and if he can handle a heavier workload. The more he continues to prove he can, the better for everyone.

It is one thing to have a hang up on rittich but to do so as a justification to more starts for smith is ridiculous.
People use the small sample size of rittichs good play to say it can’t last but in the same breath ignore the much larger sample size of smiths poor play and say he’ll break out of it with more starts

Lots of goalies struggle the first time they get more responsibility. They put pressure on themselves.
But most learn from that, and are better the next time. Rittich admits he put pressure on himself when Smith got hurt. But he is way more relaxed and confident this year.
Anyone that says, categorically, that he can't handle a bigger workload simply isn't paying attention.

Flames lead the NHL in goals for at home.
4.45 goals per game.

Truth is you need both to play well. Smith has more experience in his pinky toe, that's why guys like Loubo still hold firm that he will bust his slump. And he played very well last game. And Loubo has always, always been the noble defender of players. He is devout in not sending players down the river. Even when he did (Dougie Hamilton), it was like pulling teeth for him.
We will have to see how it all plays out.

That argument started with Wills' femme fatale spat between Pinder and himself when he joined the Flames round table discussion this afternoon.
Wills claiming Rittich can't possibly turn into a starter, meanwhile Mike Smith can't possibly be at the end of his career.
One of the rare times I was actually a fan of Pinder.

Oh god, Ryan Leslie must have taken a crash course at the Gene Principe school of terrible puns. That was ear cringing.

I hope he plays well when he plays but he is 37, is not the future of this team and I hope he breaks his slump but to throw points away while he tries to do that is foolish.
And experience is meaning less and less in today’s nhl, and smith appears to be not just in a slump unless you consider all the way back to February as a slump.
I get why they defend him but they also lose credibility by sticking to their guns so strongly. I was pointing out the flaws in the argument they make, implying sample size doesn’t matter for smith but only for rittich

I’d like to hear that. Is it available online? Wills is such a joke. I used to like Loubo but he lost all my respect with his acheis Russell nonsense.

The Flames shouldn't be worried about getting Smith going, Smith should be worried about getting Smith going.
The Flames should be worried about winning hockey games, and playing the guys that are most likely to help them do that.
It's a long season, and I expect Smith to get it going and play better. But I do not agree with the strategy of continuing to throw him out there 'because he is the #1 and they need to get him going'.
No other player gets ice-time simply based on status, it has to be earned. And that is how all the players want it.

I listened to it on the Sportsnet app. Wasn’t as much of a torching as I was hoping but good none the less. Good lord Wills is insufferable. He actually collated Smith this year to Crosby’s slump.
